Jakarta, INTI - Telkomsel has revealed its latest strategy amid increasingly intense competition in the telecommunications industry.
Coinciding with its 31st anniversary, Telkomsel reaffirmed its commitment to delivering more personalized, relevant, and meaningful experiences for the public, particularly for its 156.1 million customers. Telkomsel President Director Nugroho stated that technology should be able to provide services that are more personal, relevant, and capable of understanding customer needs.
“In the era of digital transformation and Artificial Intelligence (AI), a customer-centric approach driven by empathy is key, so that every solution can deliver convenience, security, and support in customers’ daily lives,” Nugroho said in a statement quoted on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.
Over the past few years, Telkomsel has expanded the use of AI to support network operations and customer services. The company now utilizes Autonomous Network technology to help manage networks in a more automated and efficient manner.
Meanwhile, the Virtual Assistant Veronika continues to be enhanced to accelerate customer service responses and provide more personalized experiences.
The company is also deepening its involvement in Indonesia’s national AI ecosystem through collaborations with Indonesia Artificial Intelligence initiatives. One of the outcomes is an AI-based learning feature called Sacred Octagon within the MyTelkomsel application.
5G Expansion and Digital Inclusion Strengthen National Connectivity
In addition to AI, Telkomsel is accelerating the expansion of its Hyper 5G network. The company claims to currently operate more than 6,380 5G base transceiver stations (BTS) across more than 107 cities and regencies in Indonesia, including contiguous 5G coverage in 36 areas.
This transformation is further strengthened through the integration of IndiHome B2C services and the development of the MyTelkomsel Super App, which now serves as the central hub for the company’s digital services.
Not only focusing on major cities, Telkomsel is also continuing to expand connectivity to Indonesia’s underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions. The company stated that equal digital access remains an important part of promoting technological inclusion across the country.
On the sustainability side, Telkomsel has begun expanding the use of renewable energy-based BTS infrastructure through its BTS Green initiative. Currently, more than 360 of the company’s BTS sites utilize environmentally friendly energy sources.
The company also claimed that its business ecosystem contributes to the creation of more than 685,000 direct and indirect jobs, based on an independent socio-economic study conducted by PT LAPI ITB during the 2024–2025 period.
Entering its 31st year, Telkomsel believes the telecommunications industry is now moving toward an era of AI-driven digital services, where operators no longer only provide connectivity, but also create more integrated and personalized digital experiences for customers.
To celebrate its 31st anniversary, Telkomsel also introduced special “Surprise Deal” packages for Simpati customers, including a 31 GB data package valid for three days priced at Rp31,000, and a 500 GB package valid for 30 days priced at Rp310,000.
Conclusion
Telkomsel’s transformation reflects the broader shift of the telecommunications industry toward AI-driven digital services and integrated customer experiences. Through AI adoption, 5G expansion, digital inclusion initiatives, and sustainable infrastructure development, the company aims to strengthen its role as a leading digital ecosystem provider in Indonesia.
