Jakarta, INTI - Amazon plans to invest at least USD33 billion, or approximately Rp580 trillion, across Southeast Asia to strengthen cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.
According to Xinhua on Friday, May 22, 2026, the investment will support the development of cloud and AI infrastructure in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand through 2039.
The US-based technology giant stated that the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which consists of 11 member countries, is projected to become the world’s fourth-largest economy.
In the technology sector alone, ASEAN’s digital economy is expected to reach a value of USD560 billion by 2030.

“We are building infrastructure, training local talent, and enabling businesses across the region to compete globally,” said Amazon’s Chief Global Affairs and Legal Officer, David Zapolsky.
He also praised Southeast Asian governments for their strong leadership in creating policies and economic conditions that accelerate growth and attract global AI investment.
In 2025 alone, Amazon invested more than USD3 billion across its Southeast Asian operations, including spending on infrastructure and employee compensation.
