Surge (WIFI) Ready to Launch IRA Public Internet Service Across Multiple Regions

1 day ago | Network Infrastructure

Jakarta, INTI - PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk (WIFI), through its subsidiary PT Telemedia Komunikasi Pratama, has completed all Operational Feasibility Test (ULO) stages for its 1.4 GHz frequency-based Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service, “IRA–Internet Rakyat,” across all six operational zones in Indonesia.

With the completion of the entire ULO process, the company is now preparing for the simultaneous grand launch of the “IRA–Internet Rakyat” service while gradually expanding its commercial implementation across all operational regions.

IRA-Internet Rakyat Ready for Nationwide Rollout

The final ULO stages were conducted in Zone 9 Papua on May 7–8, 2026, and Zone 10 Maluku on May 11–12, 2026. The successful completion of testing in both regions officially marked the end of operational testing across all six operational zones, with positive results.

President Director of PT Telemedia Komunikasi Pratama and Director of PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk, Shannedy Ong, stated that completing the entire ULO process across six operational zones represents an important milestone for the company.

“With our operational readiness now fully validated, we are increasingly confident in preparing the simultaneous grand launch of the ‘IRA–Internet Rakyat’ service while supporting gradual commercial implementation across all operational areas,” Shannedy said in an official statement on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

“Through this service, we want to ensure that communities in Java, Papua, and Maluku can enjoy fast, reliable, and affordable internet access more equally,” he added.

1.4 GHz FWA Technology Supports Digital Equality

Based on testing results using laptops and smartphones at multiple testing locations, the “IRA–Internet Rakyat” service consistently exceeded the minimum download speed standards set by Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs of Indonesia, achieving speeds of up to 100 Mbps in several test areas.

In addition to speed performance, the tests also demonstrated stable connectivity, low latency, and strong multi-device capabilities to support household digital needs, education, small businesses, and public productivity.

The successful completion of ULO testing in Papua and Maluku also demonstrated the readiness of 1.4 GHz-based FWA technology to operate across Indonesia’s diverse geographical conditions, including regions with limited fixed broadband cable infrastructure.

This achievement aligns with the commitment of PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk and PT Telemedia Komunikasi Pratama to promote digital equality through the “IRA–Internet Rakyat” service by providing fast, reliable, and affordable internet access across all operational regions, including eastern Indonesia.

The company believes that quality internet access should not be a privilege limited to certain areas, but rather a basic necessity that should be enjoyed more equally by all Indonesians.

The completion of operational testing across all zones also confirms the company’s readiness to support the broader and more integrated rollout of the service. Preparations include network readiness, customer devices, deployment supply chains, customer activation systems, and commercial support to ensure gradual, measurable, and sustainable implementation.

This move further strengthens PT Telemedia Komunikasi Pratama as one of the pioneers in the commercial implementation of 1.4 GHz frequency-based FWA services.

The 1.4 GHz spectrum is considered highly promising for wireless fixed broadband development due to its strong indoor signal penetration, wide network coverage, stable connection quality, and efficient network deployment capabilities.

The company is optimistic that utilizing the 1.4 GHz spectrum will create new opportunities for wireless fixed broadband services in Indonesia while also strengthening the country’s position as one of the nations driving telecommunications innovation through alternative spectrum technologies.

Conclusion

The completion of operational feasibility testing across all regions marks a significant milestone for PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk and PT Telemedia Komunikasi Pratama in accelerating digital connectivity across Indonesia. Through the launch of “IRA–Internet Rakyat” and the implementation of 1.4 GHz Fixed Wireless Access technology, the company aims to expand fast, reliable, and affordable internet access, particularly in underserved and geographically challenging regions, while supporting Indonesia’s broader digital transformation agenda.
