Indonesian Students Innovated an AI App Showcased in Singapore, Komdigi Showed Its Appreciation

Jakarta, INTI - Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting the development of local digital talent after Indonesia's young generation achieved success in international technology competitions.

In the AI ​​Ready ASEAN Youth Challenge 2026 competition in Singapore, the innovative work of students from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) has successfully won through an artificial intelligence (AI)-based disaster management application called Noah AI.

The application, developed by Mohammad Ari Alexander Aziz, Jason Edward Salim, and Tiffany Viriya Chu, is designed to predict and verify flood events while sending automatic warnings. This success is considered proof of the ability of young Indonesian talent to provide AI-based solutions to address social issues.

The ITB team's achievement also strengthened the dominance of Indonesian participants in the competition. Of the 600 competing projects, 300 came from Indonesia. This demonstrates the high interest and capabilities of Indonesia's young generation in AI technology.

Appreciation from the Government

Meutya, who was present in person in Singapore, appreciated the enthusiasm of the Indonesian participants. She stated that this huge potential needs to be supported through various strategic programs so that national digital innovation can develop more rapidly and sustainably.

Currently, Kemkomdigi has implemented several collaborative programs in various regions, such as digital scholarships to improve the competency of digital talent, and the Garuda Spark Innovation Hub, which serves as a space for startup development and technological innovation. The government is also committed to connecting young Indonesian innovators with global technology companies so that their innovations can grow on a larger scale.
