Indonesia’s Data Center Industry Competes for 300 MW AI Infrastructure Opportunity

22 hours ago | Data Center

Jakarta, INTI - The rapid rise of Artificial Intelligence in 2026 is pushing Indonesia’s data center industry into a far more aggressive growth phase compared to previous years.

Data center competition is now heavily driven by megawatt-scale capacity expansion, energy efficiency, cloud infrastructure readiness, network reliability, and data security capabilities as companies race to support the next generation of AI-powered workloads.

Major operators such as DCI Indonesia, EDGE DC, Princeton Digital Group, Telkomsigma, and NTT Indonesia Nexcenter are accelerating infrastructure expansion to meet surging demand from AI, machine learning, cloud computing, and hyperscale digital services.

Among them, DCI Indonesia is preparing a major expansion of up to 300 MW to support hyperscalers and large-scale AI processing workloads, reflecting how rapidly AI infrastructure requirements are increasing across the region.

Energy Efficiency and Hyperscale Infrastructure Become Key Focus

At the same time, companies like EDGE DC are prioritizing energy efficiency through lower Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) targets and the adoption of Renewable Energy Certificates (REC), while other operators continue strengthening disaster recovery systems, carrier-neutral connectivity, and high-speed digital backbone infrastructure.

Indonesia is also becoming increasingly attractive to global investors due to government-backed incentives such as Special Economic Zones (SEZ/KEK), tax holiday programs, and accelerated hyperscale data center development initiatives.

The growing AI ecosystem signals that Indonesia’s digital transformation is no longer driven solely by software innovation or AI applications, but also by the strength, scalability, and sustainability of the digital infrastructure powering them behind the scenes.

Conclusion

Indonesia’s data center industry is entering a new era driven by the explosive growth of Artificial Intelligence, hyperscale cloud services, and digital transformation demands. As operators expand capacity, improve energy efficiency, and strengthen infrastructure resilience, the country is positioning itself as one of Southeast Asia’s emerging AI and digital infrastructure hubs.
