Jakarta, INTI - PT Telkom Satelit Indonesia (Telkomsat) partners with Nara Space, a South Korean technology company, to explore satellite-based Earth Observation (EO) services to support data and analysis needs across various strategic sectors in Indonesia.
Telkomsat Development Director, Anggoro Kurnianto Widiawan, explained that this collaboration includes research and development of earth sensing technology, exploration of market opportunities, and joint use case development. It is aimed to strengthen the national digital infrastructure ecosystem using more adaptive and innovative satellite imagery technology.
"In this phase, Telkomsat is testing the capabilities and services of platforms owned by Nara Space, utilizing both its own satellites and those of its strategic partners," said Anggoro on Thursday, May 14.
This Service is Projected for Governmental and Industrial Use
Anggoro said that the services being developed are projected to target a broad market segment, such as government agencies, corporate businesses or enterprises, and multisector industries like mining, oil and gas, plantations, maritime, and telecommunications.
According to Anggoro, the added value of this collaboration lies in its data processing capabilities. The service differentiation will lie in the analytical insights required by each sector. Because each sector's data needs differ, robust analytical capabilities are required to translate satellite imagery into relevant business information.
Nara Space is a space technology company focused on developing EO satellites and data analytics with end-to-end capabilities. This satellite data-based analytical support is expected to provide added value to customer operations across various sectors.
The introduction of this Earth Observation service is expected to lay the foundation for building a sustainable collaborative framework.
Telkomsat targets cross-sector data integration to support various vital functions, such as regional monitoring, disaster mitigation, and more efficient natural resource management. Beyond operational aspects, this step is also part of Telkomsat's ongoing efforts to accelerate the national digital transformation.
As a digital satellite company, this global collaboration aims to deliver technological innovations that can provide concrete solutions for industry and the wider community, while strengthening data sovereignty through the use of the latest satellite technology.
