Jakarta, INTI - Indonesia's Minister of Manpower Yassierli has urged young people to continuously adapt to technological advancements and develop in-demand skills to remain competitive in an increasingly dynamic job market.
According to Yassierli, addressing future employment challenges requires more than creating new job opportunities. Indonesia must also equip its workforce with future-ready competencies that match evolving industry demands, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT).
He encouraged young Indonesians to stay relevant by continuously upgrading their skills, emphasizing that employers of the future will increasingly prioritize practical competencies over formal educational credentials alone.
Yassierli also highlighted that the rapid advancement of AI, IoT, and other digital technologies will continue reshaping workforce requirements, making lifelong learning and continuous upskilling essential.
He reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to ensuring that technological disruption does not leave anyone behind, stressing the importance of providing equal access to skills development so Indonesians can benefit from emerging employment opportunities rather than being displaced by automation.
Government Strengthens Collaboration with Industry
The Ministry of Manpower welcomed initiatives from technology companies and other organizations that help improve digital skills among Indonesia's younger generation.
Yassierli said collaboration across government, industry, educational institutions, and other stakeholders is essential to developing a workforce capable of competing in an increasingly technology-driven economy.
He emphasized that meaningful partnerships and concrete actions are key to preparing Indonesian talent for the future of work.
Future Ready Program Expands Vocational Training
To strengthen workforce development, the Ministry, through its Directorate General of Vocational Training and Productivity, has signed a memorandum of understanding with XLSMART to expand vocational education under the Future Ready Program.
The partnership will utilize Vocational Training and Productivity Centers (BBPVP and BPVP) as training venues while introducing programs aligned with industry needs.
The collaboration includes industry-focused training, IoT education, professional competency certification, internship opportunities, workforce recruitment, and job placement support for program participants.
The Minister expressed hope that the partnership will extend beyond a formal agreement and result in practical initiatives that deliver lasting benefits to Indonesian workers and job seekers.
Conclusion
By promoting AI and IoT skills while strengthening collaboration between government and industry, Indonesia aims to prepare a future-ready workforce capable of thriving in the digital economy. The initiative reflects the country's broader commitment to ensuring that technological transformation creates new opportunities through continuous learning, vocational education, and inclusive workforce development.
