The US Government Lifted the Export Ban on Anthropic’s Fable and Mythos AI System

3 hours ago | Artificial Intelligence

Jakarta, INTI - The United States (US) has lifted the export ban on Anthropic's most advanced artificial intelligence (AI) software.

Last month, US government ordered restrictions on access to the company’s AI models due to national security concerns.

Anthropic said in a statement that it would begin restoring access to Claude's Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models after being notified that the US Department of Commerce had lifted restrictions on the two AI models.

Anthropic has Addressed the Issue

Both are the company's most advanced AI software, which the US government abruptly banned from export on June 12 due to concerns that the software could be used by hackers to exploit vulnerabilities in computer systems. It was reported that Anthropic has addressed the risks.

"Anthropic has agreed to proactively detect and address security risks associated with the models," said Howard Lutnick, Secretary of Commerce, as reported by BBC.

Mythos and Fable are two Anthropic AI models built on its Claude platform, a competitor to OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini.

Fable 5 is the consumer-facing version, capable of deep reasoning and performing complex tasks autonomously.

Mythos 5 is the version designed for businesses and cybersecurity experts, touted as capable of identifying and exploiting vulnerabilities in computer code. Both models were released on June 9.
