Alipay and Meizu Introduce Smart Glasses with Built-in Payment Feature

Jakarta, INTI – Technology continues to simplify daily life, this time through a breakthrough collaboration between Alipay+ and Meizu, which has introduces the world’s first digital wallet enabled smart glasses. Recently piloted in Hong Kong, this innovation represents a major step in transforming wearable devices into practical tools for digital transactions.

Through this collaboration, users can now make payments simply by scanning a QR code or giving voice commands directly to their smart glasses. This advancement not only offers a more convenient way to pay but also marks a new chapter in the integration of technology into everyday routines.

Alipay+ and Meizu Merge AI and Optical Technology

Alipay+, the global payment solution by Ant International, has partnered with Meizu to develop a smart glasses payment feature. This technology is powered by advanced capabilities such as an AI-powered voice interface, intent recognition, and voice authentication, ensuring a secure and seamless transaction experience.

Meizu has embedded Alipay+’s Software Development Kit (SDK) into each unit of its smart glasses to support full integration. The glasses are also equipped with optical waveguide technology, voice capture with noise reduction, and camera-based QR code scanning.

A Strategic Move Towards the Future of Wearable Payments

Peng Guo, General Manager of Meizu's XR Division, stated that the launch of this offline payment feature through smart glasses sets a new technological benchmark in the industry. “This innovation not only increases the practicality and appeal of smart glasses but also drives progress and development in the AI eyewear industry,” he said.

Meanwhile, Jangling Yang, Chief Innovation Officer at Ant International, expressed optimism that smart glasses could eventually serve as alternative payment devices much like smartphones. He emphasized that this feature will help business partners expand use cases and accelerate growth.

Coming Soon to Alipay+ Partner Wallets

This smart glasses payment feature is expected to roll out to Alipay+ partner digital wallets later this year once integration is complete. Currently, Alipay+ connects more than 1.7 billion user accounts across 36 global digital wallets, national QR schemes, and banking apps with over 100 million merchants in key international markets.

In addition to offline payments via smart glasses, Alipay+ also supports QR and card-based transactions through global NFC solutions, offering users greater payment flexibility wherever they go.
