Jakarta, INTI - PLN, through its subsidiary PLN Batam, continues to support the growth of Indonesia’s digital industry, including the global data center project of Digitalland Service One (DayOne) located in the Kabil Industrial Estate.

This commitment is reflected in the signing of the largest Power Purchase Agreement (PJBTL) for a data center in Indonesia to date, with a total capacity of 511 megavolt-amperes (MVA). The agreement was formalized at Balairung Sari Auditorium, BP Batam.

Head of BP Batam and Mayor of Batam, Amsakar Achmad, emphasized that infrastructure readiness is a key factor in attracting global digital investments. He noted that the integration of land availability, reliable energy supply, and regulatory certainty positions Batam as a highly competitive strategic hub in the region.

He added that BP Batam is committed to fostering a conducive investment climate through accelerated licensing processes and the provision of integrated supporting infrastructure. The entry of large-scale data center projects further demonstrates Batam’s readiness to become a global digital hub.

Batam Strengthens Position as Regional Digital Hub

Meanwhile, CEO of DayOne, Jamie Khoo, stated that the company’s expansion in Batam is part of its broader strategy to scale capacity and build a leading regional digital infrastructure platform across Asia.

He highlighted that the ongoing development, from Nongsa to Kabil, reflects Batam’s increasingly strategic role within the company’s regional ecosystem. The expansion also aligns with efforts to develop the SIJORI (Singapore–Johor–Riau) corridor as an integrated cross-border data center platform in Southeast Asia.

As demand for cloud services and advanced computing continues to grow across the Asia-Pacific region, DayOne is scaling up its infrastructure to deliver high-performance, large-scale data center solutions.

Reliable Power as the Foundation of Digital Growth

Separately, President Director of PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo, stated that reliable and affordable electricity is a fundamental pillar for sustaining industrial growth. He emphasized that beyond supplying energy, such initiatives generate multiplier effects that contribute to national economic development.

He noted that electricity plays a critical role in driving economic activity, supporting industrial operations, attracting investment, and creating employment opportunities.

In line with this, President Director of PLN Batam, Kwin Fo, affirmed that the company’s power system is fully prepared to serve large-scale customers like DayOne. This readiness is supported by sufficient supply, system reliability, and consistent service quality.

He concluded by expressing hope that the partnership will deliver mutual benefits while contributing to regional economic growth and strengthening Batam’s investment climate, with PLN Batam committed to maintaining reliable and sustainable power services for industrial needs.

Conclusion

The landmark power agreement between PLN and DayOne highlights the critical role of energy infrastructure in accelerating Indonesia’s digital economy. With Batam emerging as a strategic location and strong support from reliable power systems, Indonesia is well-positioned to attract global data center investments and strengthen its role in the regional digital ecosystem.
