Jakarta, INTI – The launch of Tecno AI Glasses and AI Glasses Pro at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, marks a significant step for Tecno in expanding its artificial intelligence ecosystem. With a futuristic design that is sleeker than conventional AR glasses and advanced features such as AI translation and a microLED display, this device appears promising. However, is this truly a revolution in wearable AI, or just another short-lived tech trend?
One of the main advantages offered by Tecno AI Glasses is its non-bulky design, resembling conventional eyewear. The AI Glasses model features an aviator-style design, while the Pro version adopts a more modern browline style. Made from an ultra-light aluminum and composite blend, these glasses are designed for all-day comfort.
However, this sleeker design also raises questions: How durable is it against impacts or long-term use? Is the technology embedded in this lightweight frame stable enough without compromising functionality? Compared to similar devices like Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses, which have been in the market longer, Tecno needs to prove that this stylish design can also provide an optimal user experience.
With the integration of the AI assistant Ella, these glasses can translate more than 100 languages in real-time. Additionally, other AI features such as smart navigation and voice assistance make it more than just a fashion accessory.
However, the effectiveness of these features in real-world scenarios remains uncertain. For instance, real-time translation often struggles with capturing context and linguistic nuances. The accuracy of AI under unstable network conditions also requires further testing.
The Tecno AI Glasses Pro is equipped with a 50 MP camera placed at the nose bridge, while the standard model places the camera at the edge of the frame. The use of the OV50D sensor, claimed to have a larger photosensitive area, might promise better image capture in varying lighting conditions.
However, will these glasses face privacy concerns similar to other wearable devices? Their use in public spaces may raise issues regarding unauthorized recording, a controversy that previously affected wearable products like Google Glass.
On the other hand, the AI Glasses Pro’s audio features promise an enhanced sound experience with ultra-linear speakers and spatial sound technology. However, without active noise cancellation, is the audio quality sufficient for use in noisy environments?
These glasses claim to offer up to 11 hours of music playback and eight hours of mixed usage with just a 30-minute charge. With support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4, their connectivity is assured to be fast and stable.
However, in real-world usage, is the battery life sufficient to support daily activities without frequent recharging? Compared to other wearable devices, is a 30-minute charge truly reliable in urgent situations?
Tecno AI Glasses and AI Glasses Pro bring intriguing innovations to the wearable AI market. Their sleeker design, advanced AI integration, and enhanced camera and audio features are key selling points. However, major challenges remain regarding durability, privacy, and the effectiveness of their features in practical use.
Will this device mark the beginning of a broader wearable AI revolution, or will it be just another fleeting tech trend? The answer will depend on how well Tecno adapts this product to real-world user needs.
