Jakarta, INTI - PT Patra Drilling Contractor (PDC) is expanding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) as part of its strategy to improve operational efficiency, productivity, and business competitiveness amid the energy industry's ongoing digital transformation.

The initiative was highlighted during a discussion titled "Introduction to AI for Improving Work Efficiency and Productivity," held at PDC Tower in Jakarta on June 4, 2026. The event featured Ahmad R. Djarkasih, Tribe Leader of Big Project at PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, as the keynote speaker.

In his opening remarks, Agam Munawar, PDC's Director of Operations and Marketing, emphasized that rapid technological advancements require companies to continuously adapt in order to strengthen business processes and remain competitive in the energy support services sector.

According to Agam, the industry increasingly depends on speed, accuracy, and data-driven decision-making. He noted that AI has become a valuable tool for enhancing business processes and improving operational efficiency while maintaining strong standards of corporate governance and workplace safety.

AI Drives Operational Efficiency Across Business Processes

Within PDC, AI is being introduced across multiple business functions, including tender evaluations, contract analysis, document processing, and context-based data analysis using natural language processing (NLP) to support the company's Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) initiatives. These applications are expected to accelerate workflows, improve analytical accuracy, and support better-informed decision-making.

Harmeiya Habonaran Harahap, PDC's ICT Manager, stressed that successful digital transformation depends not only on adopting advanced technologies but also on building an integrated digital ecosystem supported by effective data management, secure systems, and a digitally skilled workforce.

He explained that sustainable digital transformation requires organizations to strengthen data governance, integrate secure digital infrastructure, and continuously develop employee competencies to maximize the long-term value of emerging technologies.

Drawing on Telkom Indonesia's experience in supporting digital transformation across multiple industries, Ahmad R. Djarkasih shared how AI has helped organizations improve operational performance while creating new business opportunities.

According to Ahmad, AI implementation has delivered average time and cost efficiency improvements of 49.1% while contributing to a 58% increase in new revenue opportunities across various industry sectors.

He added that AI's greatest value extends beyond automation, enabling organizations to transform large volumes of data into actionable insights that support faster, more accurate, and measurable business decisions.

Through the continued adoption of AI, PDC is committed to building more adaptive business processes while strengthening digital infrastructure, workforce capabilities, and data governance as the foundation for sustainable digital transformation and long-term business growth.
