Jakarta, INTI - The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi) and Meta Platforms have agreed to form a joint team. This team will be tasked with addressing online gambling, particularly comment spam.
Previously, Kemkomdigi stated that Instagram and Facebook, two social media platforms operated by Meta, are the most bombarded with online gambling spam comments, which have recently increased based on government monitoring.
"We have agreed to form a joint team to address the issue of online gambling on the platforms, particularly on an input we recently received, which is spam comments," said Minister Meutya Hafid in Jakarta on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
Multiple Institution Collaboration
Meutya explained that the team will not only consist of representatives from Kemkomdigi and Meta, but will also involve representatives from other digital platforms to address the issue of spam comments.
"The joint team is working to eradicate and address online gambling, particularly its latest modus operandi, spam comments on public accounts. We're also involving the police, PPATK (Indonesian Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center), and OJK (Indonesian Financial Services Authority) for follow-up," said Meutya.
Kemkomdigi reported that in the past two weeks, the number of spam comments found has increased by 128% compared to the average for the period from January to July 2026.
Meutya explained that the five social media platforms with the most online gambling spam comments are TikTok (35%), Facebook (28%), Instagram (22%), YouTube (10%), and X (5%).

Based on the ministry’s data, TikTok is the platform with the highest amount of spam comments, followed by Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and X.
