Jakarta, INTI – In today's digital era, artificial intelligence (AI) has become an essential part of various sectors, including the workforce. Minister of Manpower Yassierli emphasized the importance of mastering digital skills, particularly through AI utilization, to enhance the competitiveness of Indonesia’s workforce. Unfortunately, data from the Ministry of Manpower reveals that only 19 percent of Indonesian workers possess digital skills, significantly lagging behind developed countries, where the percentage ranges from 58 to 64 percent.
Government Strategies for AI Adaptation
During a public lecture at the Polytechnic of Manpower, Yassierli stressed that AI applications, such as chatbot platforms like ChatGPT, DeepSeek, and others, can serve as effective learning tools. With proper interaction, students and workers can enhance their understanding across various fields.
"Interacting with AI depends on the prompts given. If we can guide AI with relevant information, it will provide more useful responses," Yassierli stated.
For instance, students seeking career prospects can input data regarding their educational background, interests, and Indonesia’s economic trends over the past few years. AI can then analyze this information and provide relevant job recommendations.
The Benefits of AI in Efficiency and Innovation
Beyond improving digital skills, AI also enhances work efficiency. Features such as automated data analysis, business strategy optimization, and AI-based report generation can save time and labor. This makes AI a crucial tool for boosting productivity and fostering innovation across various sectors.
However, AI usage must be balanced with appropriate policies to ensure it does not diminish human creativity and skills. Therefore, the government continues to promote continuous AI training and education.
Security and Ethics in AI Usage
Despite its numerous benefits, AI also presents challenges in terms of security and ethics. Several countries have implemented strict regulations to ensure AI is used ethically and does not pose risks to privacy and data security.
Indonesia is also considering similar policies to ensure AI implementation remains safe and beneficial for society. The government will continue to monitor AI technology developments and their impact on the workforce and national economy.
Conclusion
Enhancing digital skills through AI adaptation is a crucial step for Indonesian workers to compete globally. With the right strategies, AI can become a partner that supports innovation, efficiency, and economic growth. The government is expected to develop policies that balance technological advancement with workforce protection and public interest.
