Indosat Launches SheHacks Initiative to Support Women-Led MSME Growth Through AI

8 hours ago | Artificial Intelligence

Jakarta, INTI - Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (Indosat or IOH) has launched SheHacks as an initiative to bridge the gap in women’s access to digital capabilities, supportive ecosystems, and growth opportunities in Indonesia.

Amid the accelerating pace of digital transformation, women-led MSMEs require more equitable access to learning, mentorship, connectivity, and technology in order to build businesses that are more adaptive and competitive.

Digital technology has long helped business owners expand market access and reach more customers. Today, artificial intelligence (AI) is opening new opportunities for women to develop ideas, improve productivity, better understand customer needs, and scale their businesses more effectively.

For MSMEs, AI is no longer limited to large enterprises. It has become a practical tool that can enhance productivity, support customer insights, strengthen marketing strategies, and expand business reach.

This is particularly important as the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (KemenPPPA) reports that 64.5% of MSMEs in Indonesia are owned or managed by women. With such a significant contribution to the national economy, access to technology and AI is increasingly crucial for strengthening capacity, improving competitiveness, and enabling more sustainable business growth among women entrepreneurs.

Over the past six years, SheHacks has supported and mentored more than 61,000 women across Indonesia through business capacity building, digital learning access, mentorship programs, and the development of a women-focused technology entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Continuing its focus on empowering business expansion through technology, SheHacks 2026 introduces a more relevant approach aligned with current business needs. The program aims to help women MSME owners utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) in practical ways to improve productivity, strengthen marketing strategies, understand customer behavior, create promotional content, and optimize business operations.

Ovidia Nomia, SVP Head of Corporate Communications at Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, said that since its inception, SheHacks has continuously evolved to respond to the changing needs of Indonesian women.

“This year, we are placing a stronger focus on AI as we see it playing an increasingly important role in how people learn, work, run businesses, and innovate. Through SheHacks, we want to ensure women have equal opportunities to understand and leverage technology, not only as users, but also as creators, innovators, and drivers of economic growth,” she said.

In line with the #BetterFuture spirit, she added that technology should create broader opportunities and deliver tangible benefits to society.

“With the support of connectivity and AI, we hope more women can build their own ‘better’ version of success, whether in starting a business, growing an enterprise, or accessing greater opportunities in the digital era,” she added.

A Learning and Growth Platform for Women MSMEs

In its seventh year, SheHacks aims to empower more Indonesian women to grow their businesses through access to learning, mentoring, digital tools, and practical AI applications for daily business needs.

SheHacks 2026 targets 27,000 women MSME owners through a six-month interactive learning program that includes self-learning modules, webinars, online workshops, mentoring sessions, and business showcases accessible from anywhere.

The program is also strengthened by offline workshops in 10 Indonesian cities: Bandung, Trenggalek, Medan, Bogor, Ternate, Bekasi, Pekanbaru, Badung, Singkawang, and Sragen. Participants will join inspirational talks and live selling sessions featuring women entrepreneurs, communities, influencers, and Indosat representatives, while also learning how to apply AI for marketing, content creation, and financial management using Sahabat-AI, an Indonesian large language model designed for practical business needs.

Through SheHacks 2026, Indosat encourages women to adopt technology and AI as part of their #BetterFuture journey in developing their businesses. With access to learning, mentorship, and technology, SheHacks continues to open more opportunities for Indonesian women to grow and scale their enterprises.

Conclusion

SheHacks 2026 reflects Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison’s continued commitment to empowering women MSME entrepreneurs in Indonesia through inclusive access to digital skills, mentorship, and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence. By combining structured learning, hands-on mentoring, and AI-driven business tools, the program is expected to strengthen women’s competitiveness, expand business opportunities, and accelerate their role in Indonesia’s digital economy transformation.
