Jakarta, INTI - The Industrial Standardization and Policy Agency (BSKJI) and its Technical Implementation Unit, the Center for Industrial Pollution Prevention Services (BBSPJPPI) Semarang, have a strong commitment to environmental responsibility and the sustainable growth of the industry. This commitment aligns with Indonesia's vision to achieve energy independence and promote a greener future, following President Prabowo’s direction.
During a recent working visit to PLN Indonesia Power Jabar 2, Andi Rizaldi, Head of BSKJI, highlighted the strategic steps BBSPJPPI has taken in developing innovative and applicable services to help industries comply with regulations and minimize environmental impact.
BBSPJPPI has expertise in supporting continuous emission monitoring through the Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) audits across multiple industries. This CEMS audit process aims to improve the quality and accuracy of services, ensuring compliance with Ministry of Environment and Forestry Regulation No. 13 of 2021, specifically in conducting Relative Accuracy Test Audits (RATA), Cylinder Gas Audits (CGA), and Response Correlation Audits (RCA).
On this occasion, BBSPJPPI Head, Sidik Herman, affirmed the institution’s readiness to contribute to achieving energy independence through its competencies and ongoing innovations. One of BBSPJPPI's main services is the CEMS audit, which is essential for various industrial sectors such as steel smelting, pulp and paper, rayon, carbon black, oil and gas, mining, thermal waste processing, cement, thermal power plants, and fertilizer production.
Sidik explained that BBSPJPPI has also prepared resources to support further service innovations, such as greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory services, Air Quality Monitoring System (AQMS) calibration, and photometer calibration for Hg CEMS.
Additionally, BBSPJPPI ensures that RCA audits are conducted accurately and comprehensively, according to the established reference methods. This RCA audit process is based on USEPA Performance Specification 11 (PS-11) standards for continuous particulate emissions monitoring systems (CEMS PM) on stationary sources.
“Accurate data is crucial as it forms the basis for industrial emission monitoring reports and ensures compliance with the regulated emission limits,” Sidik explained. Therefore, RCA audits support consistent emissions monitoring and help industries maintain responsible environmental practices.
“With this conformity assessment through CEMS, we hope to enhance emission control quality in various industrial sectors following applicable regulations, contributing to BBSPJPPI’s commitment to environmental preservation. Of course, this requires active roles and cooperation from all parties," Sidik concluded.
