Jakarta, INTI - Cybersecurity company TrendAI, formerly known as Trend Micro, has officially launched its first data center in Indonesia, reinforcing its commitment to delivering AI-powered cybersecurity services while supporting the country's growing demand for local data processing and storage.
Although the facility has been operational since July 1, 2026, the company officially announced its launch to the public on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
TrendAI Indonesia Country Manager Fetra Syahbana said the new data center is designed to enhance AI-driven cybersecurity services while ensuring customer data is processed and stored entirely within Indonesia.
"The establishment of this data center fulfills the commitment we announced at the end of last year. With this facility now operational, we can say Indonesia has truly been upgraded," Fetra said during a media briefing in Jakarta.
He added that the local data center enables customers to comply with Indonesia's data localization requirements without concerns about their information being processed overseas.
Supporting Data Sovereignty and Regulatory Compliance
According to TrendAI, the local facility helps organizations meet domestic data residency requirements under Indonesia's Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 27 of 2022).
Beyond the PDP Law, the company noted that increasing demand for localized data storage is also driven by regulations from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) for the financial sector, as well as government procurement policies that require data to be hosted within Indonesia.
Fetra explained that the Indonesian data center is built on three core pillars.
The first is data residency, ensuring that customer account data and cybersecurity telemetry remain within Indonesia. The second focuses on helping organizations meet local regulatory compliance requirements, while the third delivers lower latency and more reliable access to cybersecurity services.
The facility primarily targets organizations with stringent data sovereignty requirements, including banks and financial institutions, government agencies, telecommunications providers, operators of critical infrastructure, and large enterprises.
"Our primary customers include the banking and financial services sector, government institutions, telecommunications and critical infrastructure operators, as well as large enterprises that require domestic data storage," Fetra said.
Powering AI-Driven Cybersecurity Services
The Indonesian data center will serve as the operational backbone for TrendAI Vision One, the company's AI-powered cybersecurity platform that integrates threat detection, cyber risk management, and incident response into a single solution.
With local infrastructure in place, TrendAI Vision One can process customer account data, security telemetry, backup systems, and disaster recovery services more quickly, securely, and efficiently, as all data remains within Indonesia.
In addition to launching the data center, TrendAI also explained the rationale behind its new corporate identity.
Fetra acknowledged that the rebranding initially raised questions among customers regarding the relationship between TrendAI and Trend Micro.
He clarified that TrendAI is not replacing Trend Micro. Instead, it represents the company's strategic evolution toward AI-powered cybersecurity while maintaining continuity with its established business.
The transformation reflects the increasingly sophisticated cyber threat landscape, prompting the company to move beyond traditional reactive security approaches toward proactive, AI-enabled protection.
Using artificial intelligence, TrendAI's platform is designed not only to detect ongoing attacks but also to predict potential risks, identify security vulnerabilities, and recommend mitigation strategies before incidents occur.
