Jakarta, INTI - Indonesia is strengthening its position as one of the fastest-growing data center markets in Southeast Asia, driven by accelerated digitalization, increasing investment in hyperscalers, and a significant number of ongoing development projects.
According to research by Cushman & Wakefield, Indonesia's operational data center capacity currently stands at 468 MW. This figure is projected to increase by 1,957 MW by 2030, making Indonesia one of the fastest-growing data center markets in the Asia Pacific region.
Pritesh Swamy, Head of Data Center Strategic Consulting, Research & Valuation Services, Asia Pacific at Cushman & Wakefield, stated that the long-term growth prospects are also supported by the approximately 4.5 GW of capacity secured through the land bank, providing a foundation for future industry expansion.
"The Indonesian data center market is entering a new growth phase, where the convergence of the property sector, digital infrastructure, and capital investment is creating increasingly significant opportunities," said Pritesh on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
Pritesh explained that the growth in the data center market is driven by the growing adoption of cloud services, the acceleration of digital transformation across various sectors, increasing data consumption, the need for artificial intelligence (AI) and high-density computing, as well as expansion by global hyperscalers and data center user companies.
Growing Investments in Semester 1 2026
This positive trend is also reflected in various investments and funding commitments announced throughout the first half of 2026.
Several companies, such as Princeton Digital Group (PDG), Digital Edge, ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC), DCI Indonesia, Racks Central, and Firmus Technologies, announced new projects, funding facilities, and expansion plans in the Jabodetabek and Batam areas.
These developments are expected to continue driving demand for national digital infrastructure and strengthen Indonesia's position as a key data center market in the Asia Pacific region. Pritesh added that the market dynamics will be determined by the ability to secure the right location, power supply, connectivity, and a sustainable development strategy to meet user needs while supporting long-term growth goals.
The research also shows that Jabodetabek remains a major hub for hyperscale facility development and data center investment. Meanwhile, Batam continues to emerge as a strategic location for AI and high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure.
Conclusion
Cushman & Wakefield research shows that Indonesia is increasingly solidifying its position as one of the fastest-growing data center markets in the Asia Pacific. Currently, Indonesia has an operational data center capacity of 468 MW, with an additional 1,957 MW projected to be added by 2030. Jabodetabek remains the center of data center development, while Batam is increasingly emerging as a strategic location for AI and HPC infrastructure.
