Jakarta, INTI - The Lampung-1 satellite, a space technology collaboration project between the Lampung Provincial Government and the Chinese space company STAR.VISION, is prepared to be launched into orbit, planned for August 5, 2026.
The satellite will be launched from the waters off the coast of Shandong, China. This launch marks a crucial step toward accelerating digital transformation in Lampung by leveraging satellite technology to support data-driven development.
STAR.VISION announced the launch schedule via its official Instagram account. In the post, the company showed the rocket carrying the OSE Hyperspectral Twin Satellites being loaded onto a launch ship and sailing towards the launch site in the Shandong Sea.
The launch mission carries two primary satellites: Lampung-1 from Indonesia and Samarkand 2028 from Uzbekistan, as part of international cooperation in space technology and remote sensing.
In its statement, STAR.VISION mentioned the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), the Lampung Provincial Government, and Uzbekistan's Uzcosmos space agency as official partners in this flight project.
STAR.VISION explained that Lampung-1 was designed to support accelerated development in Lampung Province, particularly in the maritime economy, environmental management, and data-driven industrial development.
Equipped with AI Technology
Unlike conventional satellites, Lampung-1 is equipped with multi-band hyperspectral imaging technology combined with artificial intelligence (AI). This technology enables data processing and analysis to be carried out directly in orbit, resulting in faster and more accurate information ready for use by the government and industry.
The launch of Lampung-1 is a continuation of the collaboration agreed upon by the Lampung Provincial Government, STAR.VISION, and the Oriental Maritime Space Port in Shandong in 2025.
Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal stated that the development of this satellite is part of the region's digital transformation strategy, which relies on AI and Big Data technology. According to him, Lampung-1 is not only a symbol of technological progress, but also a strategic instrument for producing accurate data as a basis for formulating development policies.
"Lampung must boldly leap into the technology era. Accurate data will form the basis for making appropriate policies to accelerate regional development," said Governor Mirza.
He added that satellite utilization is expected to improve natural resource management, boost productivity in the agricultural and marine sectors, and open up opportunities for technology-based investment. As well as strengthening the economy and support more modern and sustainable environmental management to provide benefits for the public.
