Jakarta, INTI - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero), or Pelindo, signed a cooperation agreement on land use with the Denpasar City Government for the construction of a waste-to-energy (PSEL) facility in Pesanggaran, Bali.
This collaboration is part of an effort to accelerate the development of a renewable energy-based waste processing facility, as stipulated in Presidential Regulation Number 109 of 2025 concerning Urban Waste Management through Waste Processing into Renewable Energy.
For this project, Pelindo is providing a portion of its Management Rights (Hak Pengelolaan Lahan/HPL) land in the Benoa area, covering 60,502 square meters (approximately 6 hectares). The land will be used for the construction of the PSEL facility and its supporting infrastructure. The land use is planned for 30 years to support the development of an integrated waste management system in Bali.
Sustainable Energy and Waste Management in Bali
President Director of Pelindo, Achmad Muchtasyar, stated that Pelindo's involvement in the project demonstrates the company's support for the development of environmental infrastructure and sustainable energy.
"Effective and sustainable waste management is crucial for maintaining environmental quality, supporting the tourism sector, and improving community welfare," said Achmad.
Meanwhile, Mayor of Denpasar, I Gusti Ngurah Jaya Negara, considered the collaboration a crucial step in accelerating the development of modern waste management facilities in Bali.
According to him, the PSEL is expected to reduce the volume of waste ending up in landfills while simultaneously generating electricity.
"PSEL is a long-term strategy to address the ever-increasing challenges of waste management. Through waste-to-electricity processing technology, we hope to significantly reduce the volume of waste entering landfills while generating energy that benefits the community," said Jaya Negara.
