Jakarta, INTI - PT Telkom Data Ekosistem (NeutraDC), an operating company of PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) and part of the Danantara Indonesia ecosystem, is strengthening national digital infrastructure expansion through the development of a hyperscale data center in Cikarang, West Java. To support this development, NeutraDC is collaborating with PT PLN (Persero) to ensure the energy supply for the hyperscale data center facility, which will be developed in phases.
This collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NeutraDC Group President Director Rakhmad Tunggal Afifuddin, PLN West Java UID General Manager Muhammad Joharifin, and PT PLN Electricity Services President Director Susiana Mutia. The signing took place in Bandung on Tuesday, August 11.
Through this expansion, NeutraDC’s data center capacity is targeted to reach 200 MW. This capacity increase is designed to meet the growing demand for digital infrastructure driven by advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and various data-driven services.
Rakhmad stated that the expansion is part of NeutraDC’s long-term strategy to strengthen Indonesia’s digital infrastructure while preparing for computing needs in the AI era.
“For us at NeutraDC, this expansion is not merely about increasing data center capacity. We are preparing the infrastructure Indonesia needs to grow in the AI era. Therefore, energy readiness is a crucial part of our expansion strategy,” said Rakhmad.
Rakhmad expressed that the rising adoption of AI, cloud computing, and digital services is driving a continuous increase in the demand for high-capacity data centers. Such infrastructure must also be scalable to keep pace with growing customer needs.
PLN’s Vital Role
The collaboration with PLN plays a vital role in ensuring energy readiness for the data center development in Cikarang. Rakhmad noted that building large-scale digital infrastructure requires cross-sector synergy, spanning energy, connectivity, technology, and the industrial ecosystem.
“Digital transformation cannot happen in isolation. When we expand data center capacity, we must also ensure the entire supporting ecosystem is ready. Our collaboration with PLN is part of the steps we are taking to ensure this expansion proceeds in a measured and sustainable manner,” he explained.
The expansion of data center capacity in Cikarang is expected to support the growth of the digital economy by providing space for enterprises, cloud providers, technology players, and AI ecosystem participants to develop services and enhance computing capacity in Indonesia.
“We believe that the future of Indonesia’s digital economy is built through collaboration. NeutraDC provides digital capacity and infrastructure, PLN ensures energy readiness, and the synergy within the Danantara Indonesia ecosystem strengthens our ability to create greater value,” said Rakhmad.
