UICI and BRIN Collaborate to Strengthen AI and Digital Technology Student Research Opportunities

5 hours ago | Artificial Intelligence

Jakarta, INTI - Universitas Insan Cita Indonesia (UICI) has established a partnership with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) to strengthen and expand opportunities for building student research capacity in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), digital technology, and innovation.

The partnership was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UICI and BRIN in Jakarta on Tuesday, August 11. The MoU was signed by Rector of UICI, Asep Saefuddin, and BRIN’s Deputy for Science and Technology Human Resources, Edy Giri Rachman Putra.

Asep stated that the various research centers and facilities owned by BRIN could serve as valuable learning resources and spaces for talent development for UICI students.

"I am certain that BRIN possesses a vast number of research centers. This will undoubtedly be of great assistance to UICI students located across Indonesia," said Asep.

He considers research capability to be a crucial competency for students amid rapid economic changes and technological advancements. In his view, it is not enough for university graduates to merely master theoretical knowledge. They also need to possess a research-oriented mindset.

Focusing on AI-Based Innovations

Asep noted that the collaboration between UICI and BRIN would focus on the development of AI-based innovations. He believes that the evolution of AI necessitates that universities prepare students to adapt and create innovations, rather than simply acting as technology users.

"We aim to optimize AI innovation. We want talented students to have access to talent development channels within institutions where BRIN holds significant strength, both in terms of facilities and human resources," Asep explained.

The partnership is also expected to foster the generation of research ideas in the digital sector involving UICI students and faculty. Consequently, students are expected to gain not only academic experience but also the opportunity to develop innovations that can be applied within the community.

Beyond digital and AI research, the collaboration between UICI and BRIN holds the potential to expand into various other fields, including agriculture and plantation sectors. According to Asep, such innovations can be further developed through research activities involving students and faculty members. The research outcomes are expected to extend beyond the academic sphere and be directed toward boosting productivity in the agricultural and plantation sectors.
