Jakarta, INTI - Puncak Regency Government continues to strengthen coordination with the central government to accelerate telecommunications infrastructure development in the region. This effort is part of the regional government’s commitment to providing more equitable communication access for the community, especially in remote areas.

This commitment was realized through a meeting between Puncak Regent Elvis Tabuni and Arnanto Nurprabowo, Special Staff to the Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs in Jakarta on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. The meeting discussed accelerating telecommunications network development in Puncak Regency, Central Papua Province.

Telecommunications in 3T Regions Must be Prioritized

During the meeting, Arnanto Nurprabowo emphasized that the frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped (3T) regions are a priority for the government in the improvement of telecommunications networks.

"Based on data from BAKTI, there are 104 blank spots in Puncak Regency that will be prioritized for development in 2027. Furthermore, the bandwidth of existing base transceiver stations (BTS) will be immediately upgraded so that the benefits are felt by the community," said Arnanto.

Arnanto also emphasized to BAKTI to prioritize telecommunications development and implementation in Puncak Regency.

Meanwhile, Elvis explained that Puncak Regency is an area with very difficult geographical terrain, making telecommunications network constraints a major obstacle to communication between villages, districts, and even the regency capital.

"We hope the central government, through Kemkomdigi, can address this issue. An adequate telecommunications network in the 3T regions is crucial for the presence of the government to truly be felt by the people in remote areas of Puncak Regency," said Elvis.
