Jakarta, INTI - The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi) is strengthening the national cybersecurity system by establishing an early warning mechanism through collaboration with the bug hunter community. This collaboration allows Kemkomdigi to receive reports of potential vulnerabilities in its digital assets, allowing for faster preventive measures.
Hasyim Gautama, Head of Data Center and Informatics Facilities (PDSI) at Kemkomdigi, expressed his appreciation for the bug hunter community who actively report security vulnerabilities to the ministry.
"We will follow up on all your contributions with reports or notifications to the relevant work units," said Hasyim at the Bug Hunter Forum 2026 in Jakarta on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.
According to Hasyim, the collaboration between Kemkomdigi and the bug hunters is built on trust through the Vulnerability Disclosure Program (VDP). With the program, bug hunters can perform system testing safely and legally according to regulations. This collaboration is considered crucial for maintaining the security of digital assets, cyber sovereignty, and the public's personal data.
The Collaboration Brings Positive Results
Bintang Rehari Suyardi, Head of the PDSI Cybersecurity Team at Kemkomdigi, revealed that the number of vulnerability reports from bug hunters has increased significantly. While there were only 56 reports last year, this year's number has reached 460, an increase of approximately 700%.
The Bug Hunter Forum 2026 provided a platform for Kemkomdigi’s Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) team and bug hunters to exchange experiences and strengthen collaboration in the field of cybersecurity.
Conclusion
Kemkomdigi is strengthening its cybersecurity early warning system through collaboration with bug hunters. With the Vulnerability Disclosure Program (VDP), bug hunters can legally test systems and report vulnerabilities, which are then followed up by relevant work units to prevent potential threats. This collaboration shows a significant increase in security vulnerability reports, from 56 reports last year to 460 reports this year.
