AI Era Drives Surge in Connectivity Demand, Telin Prepares Infrastructure

Jakarta, INTI - Technological advancements continue to reshape work patterns and business activities. Currently, three technologies driving significant change are artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and digital platforms. 

President Director of Telin, Abdul Rahman Ansyori, noted that AI is transforming how people work, cloud technology is driving shifts in corporate business development, and digital platforms are altering customer interaction patterns.

According to him, these three developments are ultimately driving a greater need for connectivity. However, connectivity in the AI ​​era is more dynamic in nature, necessitating changes to current infrastructure and networks.

"These three major changes currently unfolding will ultimately converge on a single essential need: connectivity," he explained during a press conference in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

Network Infrasturce Must Facilitate Intelligence Processing

Abdul Rahman explained that networks no longer serve merely to connect or transfer information. Moving forward, network infrastructure must also be capable of facilitating connections and supporting intelligence processing. This shift is driving increased bandwidth demand, with requirements for AI applications estimated to be around ten times higher than before.

The high demand for connectivity is also reflected in the utilization of the Bifrost subsea cable, which connects Singapore to the United States. The cable's capacity was fully subscribed in less than a year, whereas its construction took approximately five years.

"So, right now, the rate of demand growth is far outpacing our ability to build the necessary infrastructure," said Budi Satria Dharma Purba, Director of Wholesale & International Service at Telkom Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Telin’s business, supported by international subsea cable services, continues to grow, with revenues rising by approximately 20% year-on-year.

Looking ahead, Telin has stated it will continue developing international subsea cable networks to meet the ever-increasing demand for connectivity, particularly as AI ecosystems and digital services expand.

The advancement of AI, cloud technologies, and digital platforms is driving a growing need for faster and more dynamic connectivity. Telin President Director Abdul Rahman Ansyori noted that networks in the AI ​​era must go beyond merely connecting information and support intelligent connectivity.
