Jakarta, INTI - South Korea is predicted to become a global powerhouse in the robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) manufacturing sectors. This was stated by Nvidia founder, Jensen Huang.
This is based on the country's position as a global manufacturing leader with a comprehensive ecosystem, spanning the chip and electronics industries to the automotive industry.
Huang explained this enormous potential upon his arrival in South Korea. He scheduled strategic meetings with several local technology giants such as Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, Hyundai Motor, LG, and Naver to deepen collaboration in the fields of chips and physical AI technology.
"Because Korea is a manufacturing centre of the world, we can apply the robotics technology, the physical AI technology that we invent here for the industry," he said, as reported by Reuters.
Collaboration Potential with Local Companies
Huang believes the integration of AI and robotics technology will be a key driver of the chip manufacturing industry in the future. Partnerships with South Korean companies are seen as a significant opportunity to develop innovations that could transform the global industrial landscape.
"So we have a great opportunity to partner with the semiconductor companies here as well," said Huang.
Currently, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix supply approximately 70% of the memory chips needed to support Nvidia's AI systems. Huang also confirmed that the two companies, along with Micron, have qualified to supply advanced HBM4 memory chips for Nvidia's latest AI platform, Vera Rubin.
"All three vendors are in production, and they are all competing to support Vera Rubin," he emphasized.
In addition to manufacturing, Nvidia has also begun recruiting for its research and development (R&D) center in Seoul. This move underscores Nvidia's long-term commitment to making South Korea a strategic partner in AI infrastructure development.
Conclusion
Nvidia founder, Jensen Huang, predicts South Korea will become a global powerhouse in robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) manufacturing thanks to its position as a global manufacturing leader with a comprehensive industrial ecosystem, from semiconductors to automotive. Huang believes the integration of AI and robotics will be a key driver of the future manufacturing industry. Nvidia has begun recruiting for its research and development center in Seoul as part of a long-term commitment to strengthening the AI ecosystem in South Korea.
