Indonesian Innovation Gains Recognition in Singapore Through AI-Based Disaster Management Application

5 days ago | Artificial Intelligence

Jakarta, INTI - Indonesia’s Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, reaffirmed the government’s strong commitment to supporting local digital talent following the remarkable achievement of Indonesian youth on the global technology stage.

During the AI Ready ASEAN Youth Challenge 2026 held in Singapore on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, a team of students from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) secured victory through an artificial intelligence-based disaster management application called Noah AI.

The application, developed by Mohammad Ari Alexander Aziz, Jason Edward Salim, and Tiffany Viriya Chu, was designed to predict and verify flood incidents while automatically delivering warning notifications. The success of the innovation demonstrated the ability of Indonesia’s younger generation to create practical technological solutions for real-world social challenges.

The ITB team’s achievement also marked the peak of Indonesia’s strong presence throughout the competition. Out of 600 submitted projects, around 300 entries came from Indonesia, highlighting the country’s growing enthusiasm and technological capabilities in the field of artificial intelligence.

Meutya Hafid, who attended the event directly in Singapore to support the Indonesian delegation, praised the extraordinary enthusiasm shown by the nation’s young innovators. According to her, this immense potential must be supported and facilitated to ensure further growth and development.

Government Expands Support for Indonesia’s AI Talent Ecosystem

Recognizing this opportunity, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs has accelerated several strategic programs aimed at fostering sustainable AI-based innovation across Indonesia.

Among the ongoing collaborative initiatives in multiple cities are the Digital Scholarship program, which focuses on improving digital skills and nurturing highly competitive talent, as well as the Garuda Spark Innovation Hub, a collaborative space designed to encourage discussion and innovation through emerging digital startups.

The minister emphasized that the sustainability of these achievements depends heavily on integrating local talent into the global technology ecosystem. The ministry remains committed to connecting young innovators with leading global technology companies and industry players.

“The key is creating innovation hubs that bring together these talents. Without integrating them with global technology producers, it will be difficult for them to grow. They need to become part of a much larger ecosystem,” Meutya explained.

Through strong synergy between globally recognized Indonesian talent and government-backed facilitation programs, Indonesia is increasingly positioning itself to become a major player in the global AI innovation landscape.

Conclusion

The success of Indonesian students at the AI Ready ASEAN Youth Challenge 2026 reflects the growing strength of the country’s digital talent and innovation ecosystem. With stronger government support, strategic collaboration, and integration into the global technology landscape, Indonesia is steadily advancing toward becoming a competitive force in the global artificial intelligence industry.
