Rural Areas in China Deploy UAVs to Boost Security

5 months ago | Drone Industry

Jakarta, INTI - In recent years, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have seen widespread use across rural China, playing a key role in seed sowing, pesticide spraying, and short-distance transportation.

Beyond agricultural and logistical applications, UAVs have also become a crucial component in rural security efforts.

To address inefficiencies and high labor costs associated with conventional patrol models in rural areas, Qilin District in Qujing City, Yunnan Province, southwestern China, has implemented intelligent UAV technology, establishing a command system as a standard practice.

This smart system is currently being tested in three core communities in Yuezhou and has deployed six UAV bases, each equipped with six standard UAVs and one portable handheld UAV for emergencies, creating an integrated surveillance network.

Comprehensive UAV Patrols Across Rural Areas

The patrol coverage spans the entire city, addressing diverse rural security needs.

“Previously, we relied on manual patrols, which took nearly a full day to cover remote areas. Now, UAVs can survey the entire region in just half an hour and automatically detect situations such as fires and illegal buildings,” said Tang Fei, a staff member of the Yuezhou local government in Qilin District.

These UAVs are used in a variety of scenarios. For forest fire prevention, they can quickly identify fire incidents and issue alerts through efficient monitoring and patrol operations.

UAVs Strengthen Agricultural Oversight and Rural Governance

In the agricultural sector, UAVs accurately detect illegal land development and occupation by comparing aerial imagery captured across multiple phases, providing strong support for the protection of cultivated land.

In daily management, relying on real time image transmission and airborne announcement functions, law enforcement officers can efficiently address issues such as street vendors occupying roads and improper parking.

“The main advantage of these aerial devices is their ability to overcome the time and space limitations of manual patrols, enabling precise detection and efficient handling of potential safety hazards,” explained Xiao Liang, a local government official supporting the technology in Qilin District.

The UAV implementation in Qujing exemplifies how intelligent drones empower rural governance and development across China. Looking ahead, these smart devices are expected to inject greater vitality into rural revitalization and development, according to Xinhua.

Conclusion

The deployment of intelligent UAVs in rural China demonstrates how advanced drone technology can enhance agricultural monitoring, strengthen security, and improve daily governance. By overcoming the limitations of manual patrols, these systems provide precise detection, efficient problem solving, and support for sustainable rural development, paving the way for future revitalization efforts across the country.
