Jakarta, INTI - PT Anugerah Pharmindo Lestari (APL) is expanding the integration of renewable energy across its operational network. In its latest sustainability move, the company officially inaugurated a rooftop solar power plant (PLTS) at its East Java distribution facility. This initiative aims to significantly curb carbon emissions and accelerate the clean energy transition in Indonesia.
The launch of the rooftop solar facility coincided with World Environment Day. Spanning an area of approximately 883.32 square meters, the installation boasts a capacity of 202.2 kWp and is projected to generate roughly 292,237 kWh of electricity per year.
Aligning Healthcare Operations with Environmental Sustainability
PT Anugerah Pharmindo Lestari President Director Christophe Piganiol stated that the company actively strives to embed sustainability into its core business operations, particularly through clean energy adoption. He emphasized that healthcare and sustainability are deeply interconnected, noting that as APL works to make healthcare more accessible across Indonesia, it also shares the responsibility to ensure a more sustainable future for the communities it serves.
APL estimates that the new East Java rooftop solar plant will mitigate carbon emissions by approximately 264 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent annually, a positive environmental impact comparable to planting around 1,056 trees every year.
This private sector involvement is considered a critical driver for accelerating clean energy development in Indonesia. Moh. Bahrul Amig, the Assistant for Economy and Development of Sidoarjo Regency, highlighted that collaboration between the government and industry is paramount in speeding up the green energy transition. He added that the inauguration of APL’s rooftop solar plant perfectly aligns with Sidoarjo's mission to construct modern, equitable economic and social infrastructure while steadfastly preserving the environment.
Echoing this sentiment, Wahyuwasti Kiki M, Head of the Medicine Facility Inspection Team at the Surabaya Bureau of Drug and Food Control (BBPOM), remarked that deploying cleaner energy within the healthcare sector simultaneously champions both environmental goals and public health. She noted that APL’s commitment to adopting green energy sources reflects a forward-thinking approach that complements broader public welfare initiatives.
Strategic Collaborations and Expanded Green Logistics
The construction of the East Java rooftop solar plant was executed in strategic partnership with PT Investasi Hijau Selaras (HIJAU). Victor Samuel, the President Director of HIJAU, expressed immense pride in supporting APL's journey toward transforming Indonesia's energy landscape. He pointed out that because the healthcare sector stands as a vital pillar of society, this project serves as a prime example of how operational excellence can seamlessly harmonize with sustainable energy solutions.
Prior to the East Java expansion, APL had already deployed solar power installations at its Cikarang National Distribution Center and Medan distribution point. With the addition of the East Java facility, the total annual clean energy output across all of APL's solar installations is estimated to hit 1.4 GWh, yielding a cumulative emission reduction potential of roughly 1,000 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year. Beyond solar energy, APL is also spearheading the gradual electrification of its distribution fleet and conducting comprehensive energy audits across its facilities to continuously improve energy efficiency.
Conclusion
APL’s expanding solar energy footprint exemplifies how the corporate healthcare sector can successfully lead the charge toward a low-carbon economy. Through collaborative green infrastructure projects and comprehensive logistics electrification, the company is proving that business growth does not have to come at the expense of the environment. As multinational regulations increasingly favor sustainable practices, APL's forward-looking approach positions it as a benchmark for eco-friendly industrial transformation in Indonesia.
