Realizing Digital Transmigration: Komdigi Promotes Innovation and Infrastructure

Jakarta, INTI – The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) is committed to supporting a more modern transmigration program by providing telecommunication infrastructure, implementing the Digital Village concept, and enhancing digital literacy among transmigrant communities. This initiative aims to transform transmigration areas into competitive, digitally-driven economic centers.

Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, in a meeting with the Minister of Transmigration, Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman, at the Komdigi Office in Central Jakarta, emphasized that digitalization is the key to improving the well-being of communities in transmigration areas.

Digital Transformation for Competitive Transmigration

Komdigi is dedicated to ensuring that technology and communication infrastructure are fully utilized to enhance the welfare of transmigrant communities. One concrete step taken is the widespread dissemination of information about the transformation of the transmigration program through various mass media platforms and national television networks.

"We will promote this program extensively so that the public understands its benefits. The media plays a crucial role in accelerating the adoption and acceptance of this program by society," said Meutya Hafid.

This transmigration transformation program aims to address past challenges, where transmigration was primarily focused on relocating people without adequate infrastructure support. To overcome this, Komdigi has introduced an innovative program called Transmigration Patriot, designed to develop outstanding and resilient human resources through the establishment of local schools in transmigration areas in collaboration with national universities.

Development of Digital Villages and Smart Villages

As part of the Smart Village ecosystem, Komdigi is also promoting the development of Digital Villages in transmigration areas. The implementation of Digital Villages is expected to improve access to information and create digital-based business opportunities for local communities.

"We aim to expand the Smart City concept to the village level so that transmigrant communities can experience the benefits of digital technology in various aspects of life, including the economy, education, and public services," explained Meutya Hafid.

From an infrastructure perspective, Komdigi is committed to ensuring the availability of adequate communication networks in transmigration regions. Director General of Digital Infrastructure at Komdigi, Wayan Toni Supriyanto, stated that although 4G networks cover most of Indonesia, there are still challenges in providing optimal network capacity in certain areas.

"We will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure that telecommunication infrastructure in transmigration areas is properly developed," Wayan said.

Enhancing Digital Literacy and Empowering Women

In addition to infrastructure development and the implementation of Digital Villages, Komdigi also focuses on improving digital literacy among transmigrant communities. Through the Human Resource Development Agency (BPSDM), Komdigi provides digital entrepreneurship programs, particularly for women in transmigration areas.

"We want to ensure that women in transmigration areas also have the opportunity to empower themselves through digital skills, allowing family economies to grow sustainably," said Bonifasius Wahyu Pudjianto, Head of BPSDM Komdigi.

As a closing statement, Minister Meutya Hafid emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration in realizing this program. She stated that the success of transmigration transformation depends on synergy between Komdigi, the Ministry of Transmigration, and various other stakeholders.

"With a digital-based approach, we believe this program can bring tangible benefits to society," concluded Meutya Hafid.

Conclusion

The digital-based transformation of transmigration initiated by Komdigi is a strategic step toward improving the welfare of communities in transmigration areas. With the support of adequate communication infrastructure, the implementation of Digital Villages, and increased digital literacy, transmigration is expected to become more than just a relocation program—it can serve as a driver of regional economic growth. Cross-sector collaboration is the key to ensuring the long-term success and sustainability of this program, ultimately benefiting all transmigrant communities.
