Jakarta, INTI - Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison stated that it will optimize the utilization of the frequency spectrum acquired in the 700 MHz and 2.6 GHz band auctions announced by the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi) last week. This step is part of the company's strategy to strengthen national network development.
Reski Damayanti, Indosat’s Director & Chief Legal & Regulatory Officer, stated that spectrum optimization will be carried out in stages to improve service quality and expand network coverage.
Wide Coverage and Better Signal
Reski explained that the 700 MHz frequency band has advantages in terms of wide coverage and better indoor signal penetration. These characteristics will complement Indosat's spectrum portfolio and support the broader development of 5G services in Indonesia.
She added that strengthening the spectrum portfolio will increase the company's competitiveness in providing higher-quality services. These efforts are expected to benefit customers and businesses and support the acceleration of national digital transformation.
Indosat also expressed its appreciation to Kemkomdigi for organizing the selection process for the 700 MHz and 2.6 GHz frequency bands. The company respects all stages of the auction process and the results obtained by each participant.
Indosat believes that the success of spectrum utilization is determined not only by the auction value, but also by the operator's ability to optimize its use through reliable network development, efficient spectrum utilization, service innovation, and providing the best customer experience.
In the auction, Indosat secured a 2x10 MHz spectrum block in the 700 MHz band for Rp507.48 billion. Meanwhile, in the 2.6 GHz band, the company secured a 60 MHz spectrum allocation for Rp372 billion.
Conclusion
Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison will optimize the utilization of the 700 MHz and 2.6 GHz spectrum obtained in the Kemkomdigi auction as part of the national network development strategy. The 700 MHz band is considered capable of expanding coverage, improving service quality, and supporting 5G development thanks to its wide reach and good indoor penetration.
