PERURI and Telkom Explore Post-Quantum Cryptography to Strengthen National Digital Security

4 hours ago | Digital Technology

Jakarta, INTI - Perum Percetakan Uang Republik Indonesia (PERURI) and PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk have established a collaboration to explore the development of Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) to strengthen the security of national digital systems, data protection, and electronic transactions.

The partnership marks a joint effort by the two companies to anticipate advances in quantum computing, which could introduce new threats to information security systems and electronic transactions.

PERURI President Director Teguh Arief Indratmoko said the collaboration with Telkom creates opportunities to combine technological capabilities and develop digital security solutions tailored to Indonesia’s needs.

“This collaboration creates opportunities to integrate digital trust, cybersecurity, and cryptographic technology capabilities to develop solutions relevant to Indonesia’s needs,” Teguh said in a written statement in Jakarta on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

The partnership forms part of the Quantum-Safe Indonesia initiative, which also involves the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) and Danantara Indonesia.

PERURI and Telkom Prepare for Emerging Quantum Computing Threats

Teguh explained that advances in quantum computing could weaken several cryptographic methods currently used to protect data, information systems, and digital transactions.

This development highlights the need for security technologies capable of addressing potential threats posed by future quantum computing capabilities.

Through this collaboration, PERURI and Telkom will explore the development of Post-Quantum Cryptography solutions designed to improve the resilience of digital security systems against quantum computing threats.

Beyond technology development, the two companies will assess the readiness of existing digital security systems to determine whether current infrastructure can withstand emerging security risks.

The collaboration will also examine potential applications of quantum-resistant cryptography across digital services that require robust information protection and secure electronic transactions.

PERURI and Telkom will further promote human resource development to strengthen expertise in understanding, developing, and managing quantum-resistant cryptographic security technologies.

PERURI Targets Stronger Protection for Digital Identities and Electronic Signatures

From PERURI’s perspective, Teguh said the development of quantum-resistant cryptography is closely linked to strengthening the company’s digital trust business.

This includes digital identity services, which require robust security mechanisms to protect personal information and ensure reliable user identification processes.

In addition to digital identities, quantum-resistant cryptography could help enhance the security of electronic certificates and digital signatures provided through PERURI’s services.

Electronic document protection is another key priority, as security, authenticity, and integrity are essential to reliable digital transactions.

Through these technological developments, PERURI aims to strengthen the protection of its digital services as the technology landscape evolves and cybersecurity threats become increasingly sophisticated.

Telkom Promotes Risk Mapping and Cybersecurity Readiness

Meanwhile, Telkom President Director Nanang Hendarno emphasized the importance of anticipating quantum technology developments by improving organizations’ ability to identify and manage digital security risks.

According to Nanang, the collaboration is expected to help organizations map the cryptographic assets used across their digital systems and services.

This process is essential for identifying existing security technologies and assessing potential vulnerabilities arising from advances in quantum computing.

The partnership will also explore ways to measure the readiness of digital security systems to adapt to technological changes.

In addition, the two companies will examine structured risk mitigation strategies to ensure that cybersecurity improvements can be implemented systematically and proactively.

Nanang emphasized that the signing of the agreement establishes a strategic foundation for further discussions on implementing quantum-resistant cryptographic technologies.

“Today’s signing represents a strategic foundation, while the technical implementation will continue to be explored together with the relevant parties,” Nanang said.

The collaboration therefore remains at the exploratory and strategic planning stage, with technical implementation details to be discussed further.

BSSN and Danantara Support Quantum-Resistant Cryptography Development

The development of quantum-resistant cryptography under the Quantum-Safe Indonesia initiative also involves BSSN and Danantara Indonesia.

As part of the initiative, PERURI and Telkom will leverage their respective technological capabilities and resources to support the development of digital security solutions that address Indonesia’s national requirements.

The development process will refer to cybersecurity frameworks and standards established by BSSN.

Meanwhile, Danantara Indonesia will support the initiative by fostering ecosystem synergies to facilitate collaboration in quantum-resistant cryptography development.

The involvement of multiple stakeholders is intended to improve Indonesia’s digital ecosystem readiness for advances in quantum computing.

Through this partnership, PERURI and Telkom aim to strengthen the protection of data, digital identities, electronic certificates, digital signatures, and electronic transactions, contributing to the resilience of Indonesia’s national digital security infrastructure.

Conclusion

PERURI and Telkom are exploring quantum-resistant cryptography through the Quantum-Safe Indonesia initiative to prepare Indonesia’s digital infrastructure for emerging quantum computing threats. The collaboration focuses on strengthening data protection, digital identities, electronic signatures, and cybersecurity readiness, with technical implementation still under discussion.
