Jakarta, INTI – The challenges of education in the digital era demand that students acquire skills beyond classroom theory. The gap in access between major cities and remote regions, coupled with the growing need for talent in the field of technology, has driven the creation of a new program focused on developing competencies in science and technology. Addressing this need, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) officially launched Bina Talenta Indonesia, a platform for modern skill training. The program was introduced during the Award Night for Medal Recipients and the Launch of Bina Talenta Indonesia, held at Plaza Insan Berprestasi, Building A Kemendikdasmen, Central Jakarta, on Monday, September, 15, 2025.
Focus on STEM, Coding, and AI
Bina Talenta Indonesia provides training with a strong emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), along with artificial intelligence (AI) and coding. Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu’ti, stressed that mastering STEM and digital technology is the key to preparing the younger generation for global competition. “STEM is very important, as are AI and coding. These are extraordinary talents that we must nurture,” he said.
An Inclusive Space for Students in Remote Areas
The program also targets students in 3T regions (disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost areas). According to Mu’ti, Bina Talenta Indonesia serves as an inclusive platform that enables students across Indonesia to develop their potential, regardless of location. “I believe there are many extraordinary talents in different regions, perhaps in Papua, perhaps in Madura, who deserve the opportunity to grow,” he added.
Registration and Facilities
Registration for the program opened in August 2025, with 7,360 applicants consisting of students and mentor teachers. Eligible participants are high school (SMA/MA/SMK/MAK) students who have competed in Puspresnas (National Achievement Center competitions) at least at the district/city level. The registration process is conducted online via the official website binatalenta.kemendikdasmen.go.id, requiring documents such as school permission letters, parental consent, and a commitment statement to attend the training.
Participants will receive STEM training over 14 sessions within 5 weeks, and coding and AI training over 24 sessions within 8 weeks, complete with official certificates. Each student will be guided by a teacher serving as a Talent Mentor.
Conclusion
The launch of Bina Talenta Indonesia marks a concrete step by the government to prepare a young generation that is adaptive to technological advancements. By focusing on STEM, coding, and AI, the program is expected to nurture outstanding talents from across the country, narrow educational disparities, and strengthen Indonesia’s competitiveness on the global stage.
