Indonesia Boosts 24 Drone SMEs to Drive National Industrial Tech Transformation

1 month ago | Drone Industry

Jakarta, INTI - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is strengthening national industrial competitiveness by assisting 24 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the unmanned aircraft or drone technology sector to accelerate technological transformation and expand its utilization across various industries.

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stated that the initiative aims to speed up the domestic adoption of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology.

"The utilization of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles through drones has now become an essential service, widely used by industries in agriculture, plantations, forestry, mining, power generation, and various other sectors to improve production efficiency and field monitoring. This advanced technology can produce accurate mapping," he said.

He explained that drones have long been used for mapping surveys that provide spatial information, ranging from regional profiles and demographic conditions to area potential.

The assistance for drone SMEs is being carried out through the Directorate General of Small, Medium and Miscellaneous Industries (Ditjen IKMA), which consistently provides guidance to enhance capacity and expand market access.

Coaching and Certification Programs

Director General of IKMA at the Ministry of Industry, Reni Yanita, stated that various development programs have been delivered to drone SMEs from 2023 to 2025.

These programs include the Startup for Industry initiative through the Tech Link – Investment Summit, as well as intensive mentoring during 2023–2024.

In addition, the Ministry facilitated certification assistance for the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) in 2024 and supported the implementation of the Indonesian National Standard (ISO 9001) in the same year.

Drone SMEs have also been facilitated to participate in various international exhibitions and forums such as Manufacturing Indonesia Series 2024, TechPlanter 2024 organized with Leave a Nest, Gebyar IKMA 2024, as well as China-BRICS Science and Innovation Incubation Park 2025.

“A total of 24 small and medium industries operating in drone technology services continue to receive our assistance, ranging from strengthening internal company capacity to expanding market access and product development,” said Reni Yanita.

Product Innovation and Market Expansion

Several SMEs under the Ministry’s guidance have demonstrated significant progress in innovation and market expansion across multiple regions.

PT Inovasi Solusi Transportasi Indonesia manufactures drones under the Frogs Indonesia brand, including passenger drones, spray drones, surveillance drones, cargo drones, and surveillance mapper drones.

The company’s products have been deployed in more than 21 provinces and 61 regencies/cities.

PT Karya Solusi Angkasa develops agricultural drones made from carbon composite materials equipped with emergency safety features.

PT Aerotek Global Inovasi produces Beehive drones capable of collecting accurate analytical data for oil palm pollination and firefighting operations.

PT Inderaja Teknik Indonesia focuses on remote sensing technology for aerial, underwater, and underground mapping.

Meanwhile, CV AMX UAV Technologies manufactures drones for videography, regional mapping, and agricultural management applications.

Conclusion

Indonesia’s push to strengthen 24 drone SMEs reflects a broader strategy to accelerate industrial technology transformation. By combining capacity building, certification support, and international exposure, the government is positioning the domestic drone industry to compete globally while expanding its role across agriculture, energy, mining, and other strategic sectors.
