Jakarta, INTI - Zankore by Indosat has signed a US$3.1 billion senior term loan facility, equivalent to approximately Rp54.28 trillion, to accelerate the development and deployment of next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure and GPU cloud capabilities.

Zankore Secures $3.1 Billion to Accelerate AI Infrastructure Development 

The financing agreement brings together a consortium of regional and international financial institutions, making it one of the largest AI infrastructure financing transactions in Asia. The deal represents a major milestone for Zankore by Indosat as it moves forward with its ambition to build a large-scale AI computing platform serving Southeast Asia and beyond.

The debt facility follows the official launch of Zankore by Indosat, which was announced on August 6, 2026. Established through a collaboration between Ooredoo Group, Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, NVIDIA, and Nokia, the venture aims to develop one of Asia’s largest AI infrastructure platforms.

The project targets up to 1 GW of NVIDIA DSX AI Factory capacity, with an initial 200 MW phase expected to become operational in the first half of 2027. The loan proceeds will be fully allocated to the procurement and deployment of advanced NVIDIA GPU infrastructure.

Citi is serving as the exclusive debt adviser for the US$3.1 billion senior term loan facility.

The financing syndicate is supported by Citi, ING, Natixis, Qatar National Bank (QNB) Group, and United Overseas Bank (UOB), acting as senior mandated lead arrangers, underwriters, and bookrunners (SMLAUBs).

The transaction is being positioned as the first syndicated loan of this scale in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region for AI computing infrastructure.

Building Indonesia’s AI Computing Powerhouse 

Zankore by Indosat is currently developing NVIDIA-powered AI infrastructure with an initial capacity of 100 MW. This first phase is designed to strengthen Indonesia’s domestic AI cloud capabilities while positioning the country to play a greater role in Southeast Asia’s emerging AI economy and supply chain.

As AI-powered applications and agentic AI continue to gain adoption, access to advanced computing infrastructure is becoming increasingly important for transforming market potential into tangible innovation, productivity gains, and economic growth.

Through its network of partners, Zankore by Indosat plans to provide NVIDIA-powered cloud services to AI companies, enterprises, startups, developers, and government institutions across Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

The company will implement a revenue-sharing model alongside credit support aligned with customer demand trends. The structure is designed to enable rapid expansion of computing capacity while maintaining capital efficiency.

Zankore by Indosat Director and Chairman Vikram Sinha said AI presents significant opportunities for Indonesia and Southeast Asia. He emphasized that the focus should no longer be on whether Indonesia will adopt AI, but rather on the country’s ability to build the infrastructure needed to participate in the region’s AI-driven future.

“With NVIDIA’s support, Zankore by Indosat is building the advanced AI computing foundation needed to turn these opportunities into reality,” Vikram said in a press statement on Thursday, September 10, 2026.

Meanwhile, ING Head of Wholesale Banking Asia Pacific Uday Sareen said the transaction sets a new benchmark for technology-sector financing in the Asia-Pacific region.

He described the deal as a significant milestone for financing AI computing infrastructure through the APAC syndicated loan market.

“Given the substantial capital requirements for AI and GPU computing deployment, we are proud to apply our sector expertise to deliver sustainable and repeatable financing solutions that can support Zankore by Indosat’s long-term growth and expansion,” Uday said.

UOB Managing Director and Head of Group Investment Banking Samuel Tan highlighted the financing’s potential long-term impact on the integration of the ASEAN digital economy.

He said the AI economy would be shaped not only by technological breakthroughs but also by the infrastructure required to enable innovation at scale.

“Through this landmark financing, together with the sponsor ecosystem, technology partners, and strong financial infrastructure, UOB is fully supporting this ambition. The infrastructure will adopt NVIDIA’s full-stack AI computing technology, featuring high-performance GPU clusters optimized for large-scale AI training and inference.

The platform will support a wide range of modern AI workloads, from model development and fine-tuning to the deployment of sophisticated agentic AI systems.

For Indonesia, the availability of this infrastructure could create greater opportunities to develop and scale local technology innovation by bringing advanced data processing capabilities closer to domestic users and industries.

At the same time, the project aims to position Indonesia as a regional hub capable of addressing the growing demand for AI computing across Southeast Asia.
