High Demand for Sustainable Investment, Eastpring Launches Two ESG Mutual Funds

3 months ago | FINANCIAL TECHNOLOGY

Jakarta, INTI - PT Eastspring Investments Indonesia has introduced Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG)–based mutual funds to address the growing demand for more responsible investment options.

Dedicated ESG Mutual Funds for Retail Investors

CEO of PT Eastspring Investments Indonesia, Sulystari Rizal, said that as an investment manager, the company currently offers at least two mutual funds that specifically apply ESG principles. In addition to the Eastspring IDX ESG Leaders Plus Index Fund, the firm also manages the Eastspring ESGQ45 IDX KEHATI Index Fund.

“These mutual funds strictly track indices that consist of stocks which already meet sustainability principles,” Sulystari told the media on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.

She explained that both products are open-end mutual funds that are available to the general public. Beyond these two dedicated products, Eastspring Indonesia also claims to integrate ESG principles across its entire stock and bond selection process for all of its investment products.

“In selecting stocks and bonds, we consistently apply ESG principles. We avoid, reduce exposure to, or do not invest at all in stocks that have significant environmental issues,” she said.

Environmental Responsibility and Investment Screening

According to Sulystari, Eastspring believes that environmental factors play a critical role in ensuring long-term investment sustainability. As such, the company avoids investing in sectors with very low ESG scores.

“Companies in the tobacco industry or those with very low ESG scores are not our investment targets. This is part of our role in protecting the environment,” she said.

Citing the company’s website, the Eastspring ESGQ45 IDX KEHATI Index Fund is denominated in rupiah and is the first mutual fund to use the ESGQ45 IDX KEHATI index as its benchmark.

This product is designed for investors seeking an ESG-driven investment approach, as the index consists of companies with leading ESG ratings. The ESGQ45 IDX KEHATI index includes stocks with ESG performance above their sector averages on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, and its constituents are evaluated and updated regularly each May and November.

In addition, Eastspring offers the Eastspring IDX ESG Leaders Plus Index Fund, which tracks the IDX ESG Leaders index. This index consists of stocks from companies recognized as leaders in implementing environmental, social, and governance principles.

ESG ratings and controversy analyses used to construct the index are developed by Sustainalytics, an independent ESG research and rating firm that supports global investors in developing responsible investment strategies.

Conclusion

By offering dedicated ESG mutual funds and integrating ESG principles across all investment products, Eastspring Investments Indonesia provides investors with opportunities to support sustainable and responsible businesses. These initiatives not only align with global ESG standards but also aim to drive positive environmental and social impact while delivering long-term investment returns.
