Jakarta, INTI – The Indonesian government continues its commitment to expanding internet access across the country, especially in the underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) areas. One of the strategic steps taken is utilizing the Satellite Republik Indonesia (SATRIA-1), which will serve as a solution to connect regions that have been without internet access, including blank spot areas.
Strengthening Digital Infrastructure for 3T Areas
During a discussion held at Bentara Budaya, Central Jakarta, Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Nezar Patria emphasized that SATRIA-1 services will reach areas that currently lack internet access. Additionally, SATRIA-1 will optimize the network in strategic locations that require strengthening, for both government and local community needs.
Nezar Patria also praised community initiatives that use simple technology devices to provide connectivity in remote areas. "These community networking initiatives demonstrate the enthusiasm of our society to adopt technology, even in its simplest forms," he said. He added that the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) is ready to facilitate the development of community-based internet in compliance with existing regulations.
Government's Commitment to Leaving No One Behind
During the discussion, Nezar Patria reaffirmed the government's commitment to ensuring that no citizen is left behind in the digital era. "Our principle is no one left behind, no one should be excluded. Everyone should be able to engage and benefit from this network to the fullest," he stated. The Ministry of Komdigi also plans to conduct visits to several areas that have implemented community-based internet, such as Cipta Gelar Traditional Village in Sukabumi and Meulingge Village in Aceh, to ensure proper management.
Conclusion
The utilization of SATRIA-1 by the Indonesian government is an important step in efforts to achieve equal internet access, especially in 3T areas. In addition to improving connectivity, SATRIA-1 also strengthens community initiatives that adopt technology to connect people in remote regions. The government’s commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind in the digital era, along with support for the management of community-based internet, is a strategic move towards equitable digital infrastructure development across Indonesia.
