Danantara Investment Management Inaugurates the Construction of the Waste-to-Electricity Project in Bali

Jakarta, INTI - PT Danantara Investment Management (DIM) inaugurated the construction of the Denpasar Raya Waste-to-Electricity facility (PSEL) in Bali on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. The investment value of this project reaches Rp3 trillion.

The inauguration was also marked by the signing of a power purchase agreement (PPA) as a milestone in the implementation of PSEL Denpasar Raya. The PPA signing was carried out between PT PLN (Persero) and PT Weiming Nusantara Bali New Energy, the project implementing entity (BUPP).

CEO of DIM, Pandu Sjahrir, stated that PSEL Denpasar Raya has now entered a crucial phase, moving towards the construction phase, after the partner selection process was completed.

"PSEL Denpasar Raya has entered a crucial phase with the signing of the power purchase agreement and the inauguration of the PSEL construction. This marks our readiness to drive the realization of integrated waste management solutions in Indonesia, starting in Denpasar Raya," said Pandu during the inauguration ceremony.

Pandu stated that the investment value of the PSEL Denpasar Raya project reaches Rp3 trillion.

"This initiative, valued at Rp3 trillion, is estimated to create 1,200 green jobs and reduce the need for landfill space by around 80%," he said.

The facility will be built in accordance with the environmental standards of the European Industrial Emissions Directive (EU IED). According to Pandu, the facility is projected to reduce emissions from landfills by up to 80% and reduce carbon emissions by around 640,000 tons of CO2 per year.

Targets for the Project

Operationally, the project is targeted to process more than 500,000 tons of waste per year, equivalent to more than 40% of Bali's total waste generation. In terms of electricity, the PSEL Denpasar Raya will produce enough green energy to meet the electricity needs of approximately 100,000 households in Bali.

Furthermore, Pandu stated that the PSEL project partner selection was conducted comprehensively, involving more than 60 experts and professionals from various disciplines to ensure the project meets international standards.

He explained that the team involved has experience in various PSEL projects in several countries, such as Thailand, Australia, Malaysia, Kuwait, China, Ireland, and Germany.

"The involvement of the Danantara team and the independent expert team demonstrates that the partner selection process has been verified and conducted professionally, supported by technical, operational, legal, financial, and environmental expertise," he said.
