Jakarta, INTI - PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara (Persero) is advancing its green energy agenda by exploring a strategic collaboration with a Korean consortium focused on palm biomass utilization, renewable energy development, and the downstream processing of high-value plantation products.
President Director of PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara, Mohammad Abdul Ghani, stated that the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to implementing sustainable practices while increasing the added value of Indonesia’s plantation sector.
According to him, the partnership aligns with Agrinas Palma’s long-term strategy to create a more environmentally responsible and competitive agro-industrial ecosystem.
Focusing on Palm Biomass Utilization
The potential cooperation was discussed during a business meeting in Jakarta attended by Agrinas Palma’s management team and representatives from the Korean consortium.
During the discussion, both parties explored the utilization of palm oil biomass, particularly Empty Fruit Bunches (EFB), for conversion into various high-value and environmentally friendly products.
The proposed developments include biochar, biopellets, carbon-based fertilizers, and biodiesel.
Ghani emphasized that green energy development and biomass utilization are part of Agrinas Palma’s efforts to build a business model that delivers not only economic benefits but also positive impacts on the environment and society.
He added that the company remains open to broader international partnerships in plantation management and export-oriented downstream product development.
Supporting Downstream Industry and Carbon Trading
The Korean consortium introduced several biomass processing technologies that could be integrated with Agrinas Palma’s existing palm oil processing facilities.
These technologies are expected to produce renewable energy and eco-friendly materials while also contributing to carbon trading opportunities and emission reduction efforts.
The expertise and technological capabilities of the Korean partners are anticipated to strengthen Agrinas Palma’s transformation into a modern agro-industry player with global competitiveness.
As a follow-up, both parties will conduct technical information exchanges, prepare cooperation proposals, and carry out feasibility studies to identify the most effective and mutually beneficial business model.
This preliminary partnership marks an important step for Agrinas Palma in expanding international collaboration while supporting plantation downstream development, energy transition, and sustainable green economic growth.
Conclusion
The collaboration between Agrinas Palma and the Korean consortium represents a significant step toward accelerating Indonesia’s green energy transition and sustainable agro-industrial transformation. By leveraging palm biomass technology, renewable energy solutions, and value-added downstream products, the partnership is expected to strengthen environmental sustainability, enhance global competitiveness, and contribute to the growth of a greener economy.
