Jakarta, INTI - Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Yuliot Tanjung, emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government and national industry to accelerate electrification, increase energy efficiency, and strengthen the use of domestic products. This was conveyed during his visit to the electrical equipment and lighting manufacturing industry in Tangerang, as part of efforts to ensure the national industry's readiness to support strategic electricity programs.
He stated that Indonesia's electrification ratio has currently reached around 98 percent and is targeted to reach 100 percent by 2029, ensuring that no areas remain without electricity. To achieve this target, the government continues to accelerate the Village Electrification Program (Lisdes), which will cover approximately 1,516 villages by 2025, with a total of approximately 10,000 villages targeted to have access to electricity by 2029.
Solar Power Plants and Local Products
This program will increase the need for large-scale electricity infrastructure while also opening opportunities for domestic industry to participate in supplying electricity equipment and technology. The government is also promoting energy efficiency through the development of green buildings and the use of renewable energy, including rooftop solar power plants in the industrial sector.
Furthermore, the government is preparing regulations to improve the safety of electrical installations through the use of safety devices like Residual Current Breakers with Overcurrent (RCBO). The government has also reaffirmed its commitment to prioritizing domestic products, limiting imports if the demand can be met by local industry.
The Ministry of ESDM hopes that synergy between the government and industry players will be strengthened in supporting the energy transition, equitable access to electricity, and the development of a sustainable electricity sector in Indonesia.
Conclusion
Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Yuliot Tanjung emphasized the importance of synergy between the government and domestic industry to accelerate national electrification. The target is to reach 100% by 2029, through a village electricity program targeting around 10,000 villages. The government also encourages energy efficiency, the development of renewable energy such as rooftop solar power plants, and the use of local products to support access to energy and the development of a sustainable electricity sector.
