1 week ago | Digital Technology

Jakarta, INTI - SpaceX will begin launching larger and more powerful Starlink satellites in mid-2027. This upgraded internet-from-space system will rely on the company's new Starship rocket.

SpaceX President, Gwynne Shotwell, and Starlink VP, Mike Nicolls, discussed the future of Starlink on Monday at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

"With Starship, we'll be able to launch a satellite constellation very quickly. Our goal is to launch a constellation capable of providing global, continuous coverage within six months, and that's about 1,200 satellites," Nicolls said.

SpaceX’s US$9 Billion Revenue in 2026

Starlink is currently the world's largest single satellite network, with nearly 10,000 satellites orbiting Earth. According to Bloomberg Intelligence, the network is expected to generate US$9 billion in revenue for SpaceX by 2026.

Currently, all satellite launches use SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket. The company plans to launch a larger and more advanced fleet of satellites using its Starship rocket, which is currently under development. It is capable of carrying large payloads and humans into space.

Conclusion

SpaceX is preparing to take its Starlink service further with the launch of an upgraded satellite constellation in mid-2027, powered by its Starship rocket. The company is targeting a constellation ready for full global continuous coverage within six months.
