Jakarta, INTI – The government's concrete steps to strengthen the industrial sector have gained new momentum with the inauguration of Schneider Electric Indonesia’s factory expansion in Cikarang. This effort not only reflects the private sector’s strong commitment to supporting national development, but also marks a tangible synergy between government policy and global investment in pursuing a sustainable, digital, and green industrial transformation.
The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin), through the Directorate General of ILMATE, expressed appreciation for this expansion, viewing it as a driver of Indonesia’s manufacturing competitiveness particularly in the electrical equipment sector.
“This development is not merely the launch of a new production line, but a symbol of our shared determination to position Indonesia as a major global manufacturing player,” said ILMATE Director General Setia Diarta, Friday June 27, 2025.
Smart Factory Expansion and Schneider Electric’s Commitment
The expansion of Schneider Electric’s third factory in Cikarang is part of the French company’s long-term strategy to support national industrial resilience and transformation.
Martin Setiawan, President Director of Schneider Electric Indonesia & Timor-Leste, explained that the facility incorporates advanced technologies such as EcoStruxure, rooftop solar panels, AI-based automation, and digital Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
“This is not just an industrial investment. We aim to contribute to building a resilient, globally competitive industrial ecosystem through the use of digital technologies and clean energy,” Martin emphasized.
Accelerating Clean Energy and the Green Economy
Aligned with Indonesia’s Net Zero Emission target for 2060, Kemenperin stressed the importance of developing supporting components for renewable energy (EBT), including solar panels, batteries, turbines, and more. The government expects active involvement from industrial players, including Schneider Electric, to accelerate the green energy transition in Indonesia.
“Through initiatives like this, we are building the foundation for an inclusive and sustainable green economy,” Setia stated.
Promoting Quality Investment and Cross-Sector Synergy
During the factory inauguration event, Kemenperin also emphasized the importance of using domestic products in production chains. This is seen as a strategic move to foster industrial self-reliance and strengthen cross-sectoral collaboration.
Solehan, Director of Machinery and Agricultural Equipment Industry, noted that the presence of this factory is expected to open more opportunities for quality investments and enhance Indonesia’s position in the global industrial landscape.
Indonesia–France Partnership for the Future
French Ambassador to Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and ASEAN, Fabien Penone, welcomed the ongoing strengthening of bilateral economic ties between France and Indonesia, as previously agreed upon by President Emmanuel Macron and President Prabowo Subianto.
“Schneider Electric is a clear example of the long-term commitment of French companies to support sustainable development in Indonesia,” he said.
Conclusion: A Pillar of Green Industrial Progress
Schneider Electric’s factory expansion represents more than just industrial growth it reflects the future direction of Indonesia’s development: one that is innovation-driven, clean-tech-based, and globally connected.
With collaboration between the government and the private sector, the national target of 8% economic growth by 2029 and the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045 are no longer just aspirations they are goals well within reach.
