Jakarta, INTI - Kamar Dagang dan Industri Indonesia (KADIN Indonesia) and the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) are strengthening trade and investment cooperation through the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
KADIN Indonesia Chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie said the collaboration is a follow-up to a memorandum of understanding (MoU) previously signed by the two organizations at the State Palace.
“First, we discussed how AI can be leveraged for trade. We want to ensure that technology enables us to trade more, at lower costs, faster, and with greater access to markets,” he said after the Indonesia-Singapore High-Level Business Dialogue in Jakarta on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
According to Anindya, both parties are also moving forward with the implementation of the Trade AI Advisor, an initiative designed to make trade activities more efficient and accessible.
Beyond technology-driven cooperation, KADIN and SBF are also preparing a joint agenda ahead of Singapore’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2027.
Anindya said KADIN supports efforts to make ASEAN more connected, open to the global economy, and capable of driving sustainable development.
“Finally, we also plan to collaborate on the Singapore Regional Business Forum in the middle of next year. KADIN is certainly pleased to support SBF in this initiative,” he said.
Advancing the Trade AI Advisor
SBF Chairman Mark Lee said the latest visit to Indonesia marked the federation’s third visit to the country within the past three months. He said the frequency of these visits reflects SBF’s confidence in Indonesia’s long-term economic fundamentals and growth prospects.
The delegation included representatives from various Singaporean business sectors, including healthcare, retail, commodities, and plantation industries.
“We believe there are still many opportunities for cooperation that we can develop together with KADIN,” Mark said.
“We have followed up on the existing MoU and are now working closely to implement the Trade AI Advisor,” he added.
The partnership extends beyond the implementation of the Trade AI Advisor, with both organizations also seeking to strengthen collaboration with Indonesian business partners and develop a cooperation agenda during Singapore’s ASEAN Chairmanship.
Mark said the initiative is expected to generate broader economic benefits for Indonesia and the ASEAN region, including the creation of quality employment opportunities.
“In addition, we plan to organize the Singapore Regional Business Forum next year together with KADIN, and we hope to continue building on this strong partnership,” he said.
Meanwhile, Edi Prio Pambudi, Deputy for Economic and Investment Cooperation Coordination at Indonesia’s Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, reaffirmed the government’s support for closer Indonesia-Singapore cooperation, particularly ahead of Singapore’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2027.
He said one of the agreed priorities is strengthening regional and global supply chains while expanding trade across ASEAN.
“Given the current global situation, we need to strengthen one another, particularly in securing energy and food supplies, as well as connectivity, especially through digitalization,” Edi said.
He added that digitalization also plays a strategic role in creating economic opportunities for ASEAN’s younger generation. As regional connectivity grows, young workers are expected to gain greater opportunities to contribute to the economy and access better-quality employment.
“We hope ASEAN will create more opportunities for young people to contribute and gain access to better employment,” Edi said.
