Jakarta, INTI - Indonesia’s artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure sector is increasingly attracting the attention of major conglomerates. Companies traditionally known for their businesses in mining, plantations, energy, and other industries are now expanding their portfolios into the digital infrastructure sector.
This shift includes investments in fiber networks, data centers, computing infrastructure, and facilities designed to meet the growing demands of AI and hyperscale computing.
One of the latest developments comes from Salim Group, which has acquired Keppel Data Centres’ stake in the joint venture previously known as IndoKeppel Data Centres.
Following the transaction, the company was relaunched as IndoData Data Center and is now fully owned by Salim Group. According to Data Center Dynamics, the acquisition of Keppel’s stake was completed in December 2025, although the financial details and terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Salim Group Prepares Up to 500 MW of AI Infrastructure
IndoData is now positioning the development of data center infrastructure for AI and hyperscale applications as one of its key business focuses.
The company said it has secured up to 500 megawatts (MW) of power capacity through an agreement with PT PLN (Persero). The capacity is intended to support project development and high-performance computing requirements from hyperscalers, cloud service providers, and AI technology companies.
IndoData is also developing built-to-suit facilities, allowing its infrastructure to be tailored to individual customer requirements.
The company said its business vision is to become a sustainable, reliable, and future-ready digital infrastructure partner while supporting the continued growth of Indonesia’s digital economy.
Salim Group and Keppel Partnership Dates Back to 2018
The partnership between Salim Group and Keppel to develop data center facilities in Indonesia was first announced in 2018.
The project was developed in Bogor, West Java. The facility, initially known as IndoKeppel Data Centre 1 (IKDC 1), was originally scheduled to begin operations in 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The first phase, with a capacity of approximately 5 MW, eventually became operational in 2022. At the time, the facility was developed as part of a data center campus in Bogor.
Following Keppel’s exit from the joint venture and Salim Group’s acquisition of full ownership, the company now operates under the IndoData name.
IndoData Adds 6 MW of Capacity
Expansion has continued following the change in ownership structure.
IndoData Managing Director Ronald Setiawan, who previously served as Director of IndoKeppel Data Centres, announced that the company had completed and delivered an additional 6 MW of IT load at the facility.
The additional capacity was developed under a built-to-suit model for a hyperscale customer that was already using IndoData’s services.
According to Ronald, the expansion reflects the customer’s confidence in IndoData’s ability to provide reliable, scalable, and high-performance data center infrastructure.
