PLN EPI's Clean Energy Day Program Reduces Carbon Emissions

5 hours ago | Green Industrial

Jakarta, INTI - PT PLN Energi Primer Indonesia (PLN EPI) continues to strengthen its commitment to building a culture of sustainability through the implementation of EPI Clean Energy Day, an initiative that encourages employees to use low-emission transportation modes as a tangible contribution to supporting the energy transition, reducing fuel consumption, and simultaneously reducing the company's carbon footprint.

This program, held every Friday, is part of an effort from the government, the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), and PT PLN (Persero) to promote a culture of energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions in the workplace.

Based on the cumulative implementation report for the period April 28 to July 3, 2026, 246 employees participated in the program. From this participation, PLN EPI recorded emission savings of 710.87 kg CO2e, equivalent to saving 292.3 liters of Pertamax, and transportation cost savings of Rp 3,889,727.

These achievements demonstrate increasing employee awareness of adopting a low-carbon lifestyle and represent the first step toward achieving the program's annual targets.

Sustainable Work Culture through Behavioral Changes

PLN EPI Corporate Secretary, Mamit Setiawan, stated that EPI Clean Energy Day is part of the company's efforts to build a sustainable work culture through behavioral changes starting from daily activities. He explained that the program acts as a platform for employees to reduce carbon emissions by using more environmentally friendly transportation.

He added that the success of the energy transition requires the active participation of all company employees. Therefore, simple behavioral changes implemented consistently will have a significant impact, both on the environment and the company's sustainability.

"We appreciate the enthusiasm of all employees who have participated. Every trip switched to low-emission transportation is a real contribution to building a more efficient work culture, supporting the achievement of the Net Zero Emissions (NZE) target, and demonstrating that energy transformation can start with simple steps taken together," he added.

Recorded Data to Monitor Program Effectiveness

To ensure the program's benefits can be measured objectively, each participant records their trip history, which is then converted into data on carbon emission reductions, fuel consumption savings, and transportation cost efficiency. This data-driven approach allows the company to monitor the program's effectiveness while simultaneously encouraging increased employee participation on an ongoing basis.

Through this program, PLN EPI encourages all company employees to reduce the use of fossil-fueled vehicles by switching to more environmentally friendly modes of transportation, such as walking, cycling, public transportation, and electric vehicles. In addition to contributing to reduced carbon emissions, this program also encourages fuel efficiency, creates a healthier work environment, and strengthens collective awareness of the importance of a low-emission lifestyle.
