Jakarta, INTI - Pertamina NRE has partnered with Copenhagen Urban Solar Parks BD Ltd (CUSP) through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore renewable energy development in Bangladesh. This collaboration includes the development of solar power plants (PLTS) projects as well as opportunities for cooperation in operations and maintenance (O&M).
The MoU was signed by Pertamina NRE President Director John Anis and CUSP Chairman Ziaur Rahman at Grha Pertamina, Jakarta, on May 13. This collaboration marks the initial stage of exploring investment and development of clean energy projects in Bangladesh, while strengthening regional collaboration in supporting a sustainable energy transition.
This partnership also demonstrates Bangladesh's confidence in Pertamina NRE's experience and capabilities in developing new and renewable energy, including managing large-scale solar energy projects in the international market.
In its implementation, the two companies will conduct a feasibility study covering technical, market, business, environmental, and legal aspects, as well as potential project risks. Furthermore, the collaboration also includes exploring strategic, technical, and commercial collaboration, including knowledge exchange and the application of renewable energy technologies.
Pertamina’s Global Expansion and Bangladesh’s Sustainable Development
John Anis stated that this collaboration reflects Pertamina's commitment to expanding its green energy business globally. He considered the collaboration a strategic step to support Indonesia's renewable energy development while simultaneously supporting Bangladesh's clean energy needs.
He stated that expansion into Bangladesh would also strengthen Pertamina NRE's international portfolio, which has already been established in the Philippines. The company currently has an installed capacity of over 1 GWp in the Philippines and is targeting an increase to 2.6 GWp by the end of 2026.
Ziaur Rahman said that the partnership with Pertamina NRE has the potential to open broader synergies in the development of solar energy projects in Bangladesh.
"We welcome this collaboration as a strategic step to deliver innovative, efficient, and impactful clean energy solutions for sustainable development in Bangladesh," said Ziaur.
