Mitratel (MTEL) Focuses on Efficiently Managing Telecommunications Infrastructure

2 months ago | Network Infrastructure

Jakarta, INTI - PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk. or Mitratel (MTEL), a telecommunications infrastructure company, is focused on strengthening the efficiency of its network management to support national digital transformation while still maintaining profitability.

This effort is being pursued through the development of various technological solutions aimed at improving the capability and efficiency of Indonesia's telecommunications infrastructure.

The company is exploring collaborations with various companies to achieve this. One of them is with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT ZTE Indonesia (ZTE).

With the MoU, Mitratel and ZTE agreed to collaborate in the exploration and study of new technologies, including technical validation and the development of solutions that support service quality improvement and network optimization.

Mitratel President Director, Theodorus Ardi Hartoko, stated that this initiative aligns with the company's strategy to continuously drive innovation and efficiency in telecommunications infrastructure management.

"The strategic partnership between Mitratel and ZTE is an important step in expanding the exploration of technological solutions that can improve the efficiency and capability of telecommunications networks in Indonesia," said Theodorus.

Management is Important to Optimize Hightime and Minimize Downtime

Thousands of tower and fiber infrastructures require strict management to ensure high uptime and minimize disruptions, as any downtime means potential lost revenue and a decrease in trust from cellular operators.

Efficient infrastructure management, such as centralized monitoring, predictive maintenance, and tower digitalization, can lower operational costs, increase asset utilization, and ultimately improve profitability.

As of the third quarter of 2025, Mitratel operates approximately 40,102 towers with 61,987 tenants. The tenancy ratio, or the ratio of tenants per tower, increased to 1.55 times from 1.51 times the previous year, the highest among the three major tower issuers.

To provide more efficient services, Mitratel also uses IoT and digital platforms to monitor tower energy consumption in real time, identify wasteful points, and manage operational loads more precisely.

This digitalization helps reduce field visits, accelerate disruption response, and ultimately reduce operational costs while maintaining service quality.

ZTE Indonesia President Director, Richard Liang, stated that the collaboration with Mitratel is part of a joint effort to strengthen telecommunications infrastructure in Indonesia.

"Both parties will explore collaboration opportunities in several areas, such as the development of Radio Access Network (RAN) technology and the use of more efficient energy sources to support network management," said Richard.

Conclusion

Mitratel (MTEL) partners with ZTE to explore and develop new technologies that can improve the efficiency of telecommunications infrastructure management in Indonesia. Through this collaboration, the companies hope to strengthen network capabilities, improve service quality, and support the national digital transformation while maintaining operational efficiency and profitability.
