Jakarta, INTI - Indonesia's Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) is strengthening labor market analysis and workforce training planning by leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support more adaptive, data-driven employment policies that align with the evolving needs of industry.
AI Becomes a Key Pillar of Workforce Planning
Secretary General of the Ministry of Manpower, Cris Kuntadi, said that rapid advances in digital technologies, particularly AI, are reshaping the labor market, learning methods, and public policymaking.
"The Ministry's primary mission is to ensure that Indonesia's workforce is not left behind. The challenge is not simply providing training, but ensuring that training remains relevant to industry developments. This is where AI plays a crucial role," he said.
According to Cris, AI supports the employment ecosystem through four key functions.
These include rapidly identifying workforce demand across different industries, detecting critical skills gaps that need to be addressed, designing adaptive training programs that reflect industry requirements, and enabling evidence-based, data-driven decision-making.
Human Talent Remains Central to Digital Transformation
Despite the growing role of AI, Cris emphasized that technology should be viewed as an enabler rather than a replacement for human capabilities.
He stressed that the success of AI adoption ultimately depends on the readiness and quality of human resources.
"Let's position AI as a strategic partner to improve public services, strengthen organizational effectiveness, and enhance the global competitiveness of Indonesia's workforce," he said.
Cris expressed confidence that Indonesia has the potential to make significant progress in building a more competitive labor market by combining its large workforce, collaborative culture, and digital learning mindset with the transformative capabilities of AI.
