Land Aircraft Carrier : Futuristic Flying Car from China Ready to Take Off in 2026

2 months ago | E-Mobility

Jakarta, INTI – Chinese automotive company XPeng is making headlines with its latest innovation: a flying car. This futuristic vehicle, named the Land Aircraft Carrier, is expected to launch in 2026 and is projected to become the best-selling aircraft in the world.

Dual Mode: Capable of Driving on Land and Flying in the Air

The Land Aircraft Carrier is a dual-mode vehicle designed to operate on both land and in the air. Its flying unit can cover a distance of up to 20 kilometers with a flight time of 15 to 20 minutes. Afterward, it returns to the land-based "carrier" unit for a 20-minute recharge.

Advanced Technology: Electric Motors with Over 1,000 km Driving Range

The land vehicle is equipped with six electric motors, a 6x6 electric drivetrain with three axles, and an 800V silicon carbide range extender. It offers a driving range of over 1,000 kilometers. Additionally, the carrier can recharge the flying unit up to six times in a single trip.

Sophisticated Design: Giant Drone with Panoramic Cockpit

The flying unit resembles a giant drone with six rotors and six axes, featuring a two-seat cockpit and a 270-degree panoramic view system. The main components are made of foldable carbon fiber, allowing for easy storage and seamless integration with the land vehicle.

Multi-Layer Safety System and Intelligent Controls

XPeng emphasizes safety as a top priority. The vehicle includes a multi-layer redundancy system for control and powertrain, along with an onboard communication system to maintain function in the event of a failure.

Drivable with a Standard License and Fits in Underground Parking

Despite its high-tech features and futuristic design, the Land Aircraft Carrier is built with everyday usability in mind. XPeng claims it can be driven with a standard driver’s license and is compact enough to fit in an underground parking space.

A Price Tag to Match: Around $300,000

With all its advanced features, the vehicle comes with a hefty price tag of US$ 300,000, or approximately 5 billion Indonesian Rupiah, in its domestic market. XPeng aims to sell around 10,000 units annually, potentially making it the best-selling aircraft in the world.

Conclusion: The Future of Transportation Is Taking Off

The arrival of the Land Aircraft Carrier marks a major step forward in urban mobility. Combining cutting-edge technology, versatility, and bold design, XPeng proves that flying cars are no longer just science fiction—they are becoming a real solution for the future. If it succeeds in the market, this vehicle could transform the way we travel, opening up a new era where roads and skies coexist as travel routes.
