Klein Vision Prepares AirCar Test Flight Ahead of 2026 Launch

9 months ago | E-MOBILITY

Jakarta, INTI – The concept of flying cars, once confined to the realm of science fiction, is now edging closer to reality. Slovakia-based aviation technology company Klein Vision has announced plans for an advanced test flight of the second AirCar prototype a vehicle that can both drive on roads and fly in the sky before its scheduled commercial release in early 2026.

Futuristic and Functional Design

Unlike most flying car concepts that resemble passenger drones, AirCar boasts the sleek design of a modern sports car, complete with folding wings and a tail similar to a light aircraft. Its automatic wing-folding technology allows it to maneuver on roads and be ready for takeoff within minutes once on a runway.

Klein Vision founder Stefan Klein has been pursuing the flying car dream since 1989, long before the company was officially established in 2016. While earlier designs such as AeroMobil I and II gained attention, none reached mass production.

Launch Schedule and Target Market

Klein Vision aims to begin marketing AirCar in the first quarter of 2026. If successful, it will be the first commercially sold flying car in over 75 years.

However, its use will be highly limited. AirCar requires a pilot’s license, access to a runway, and a significant financial investment meaning it will likely be enjoyed only by the wealthy and aviation professionals.

Second Prototype Test Flight

The second prototype’s test flight is scheduled for this fall. If the trials go well, Klein Vision plans to proceed with final certification and limited production.

Other competitors are also developing flying car concepts, ranging from fixed-wing designs similar to AirCar to multi-rotor aircraft resembling drones.

Challenges and Opportunities

The road to personal air mobility faces considerable obstacles, including aviation regulations, infrastructure readiness, and user training. Nevertheless, if these hurdles are overcome, flying cars like AirCar could mark a new chapter in modern transportation history.

Conclusion:
AirCar stands as a symbol of transportation innovation, combining the convenience of a road vehicle with the freedom of flight. With test flights on the horizon and a target launch in 2026, Klein Vision could redefine how people travel in the future though, for now, only a select few will experience it.
